Lupin didn't believe it. How was it possible. Peter Pettigrew was dead.
He wanted it just to be a figment of his imagination, he wanted it to just be a dream and everything would be normal again by morning, but he knew it wasn't. With the adrenaline taking over, he rushed out of the castle.
Harry, Ron and Hermione were already face to face with a sunken looking, waxy skinned Sirius Black.
"Harry, it's a trap! He's the dog, he's an animagus!" Ron cried out.
Sirius Black stood before them, mangled prison robes and yellow teeth showing.
"If you want to kill Harry, you'll have to kill us too!" Hermione shouted bravely.
"No, only one will die tonight."
"Then it'll be you!" Harry said fiercely, charging at Black.
Harry wrestled Sirius to the floor, pointing his wand to Blacks neck.
"Are you going to kill me Harry?" he laughed maniacally.
Lupin charged through the door, disarming them all.
"Well well Sirius, looking rather ragged aren't we? Finally the flesh reflects the madness within."
"Well you'd know all about the madness within, wouldn't you Remus."
Lupin lowered his wand, helping Sirius up from the ground before welcoming him back with a hug.
"I found him!—"
"I know."
"It's him—"
"I understand."
"Let's kill him—"
"No!" Hermione shrieked interrupting the two. "I trusted you! And all this time, you've been his friend. Imagine what Cassie's going to say when she finds out you helped him! He's a werewolf!" she exclaimed turning towards Harry and Ron. "That's why he's been missing classes!"
"How long have you known?" Lupin questioned.
"Since Professor Snape set the essay." she gulped.
"Well well Hermione, you really are the brightest witch of your age i've ever met!"
"Enough talk Remus! Come on let's kill him!" Sirius demanded.
