INT. MOON CAFÉ — LUNCH TIME (12:26 PM)

SAKUSA and KOYAMA finished their pastries. SAKUSA had ordered a French toast with Miso sugar and Umeboshi Plum Compote. KOYAMA had ordered a duo of fluffy pancakes topped with strawberries and one scoop of strawberry ice cream.

SAKUSA frowned upon KOYAMA's quick ingestion of the sugar infested pancakes.

SAKUSA
You have...
Ice cream on
your nose.

KOYAMA
I do?!
(Grabs a napkin
and lightly dabs
her nose until
the ice cream's
all gone).

KOYAMA
Thanks for letting
me know. If it had
been my sister or
Iizuna-San in your place,
they would've taken photos.
Worst of all is they'd
post them online too.
(Sighs).

KOYAMA
I know that Iizuna-San
insisted on this, because
he doesn't want me around
right now, and I get that,
but if you don't feel comfortable
with this, there's no need to
discuss the details.

SAKUSA
(Intrigued)
So, without me saying
anything, you're already
rejecting the idea of
being my roommate?
(Raises an eyebrow).

KOYAMA
Well, yes and no.
I've just moved to Tokyo,
I've got no where else to stay,
but I don't want to invade your
space? You know what I mean?

SAKUSA
This makes things harder.
It sounds like a tempting
offer, but, I left off on
an awkward note with
Iizuna-San. Just this once,
I'll do him a favor.

SAKUSA
Honestly,
I don't like
people.

KOYAMA
(gapes, and then
her eyebrows raise
with surprise).

SAKUSA
But, I'm behind on a
few months rent, so I
do need a roommate as
soon as possible.

KOYAMA
Uh-huh...continue.
(narrows her eyes).

SAKUSA
Since those months
are technically still
my responsibility,
I won't burden you with
them. All I need is for you
to help with groceries and
the chores. Is that
reasonable?

SAKUSA
After those months are paid,
we'll split the rent,
50/50. What do you say?

KOYAMA
Okay,
that sounds cool,
but,
I don't have a job,
yet.

SAKUSA
Well, it's not like
you're moving in
today, so you won't
have to worry about it
for now. Though, you
should look into that as
soon as you can.

KOYAMA
Alright.
Cool.
(Awkwardly looks
down at her lap).

A pregnant silence engulfs the two young adults. SAKUSA feels uncomfortable with the silence, but he doesn't know if he should speak or not. Noting that the brunette in front of him won't make the first attempt, SAKUSA decides to break the ice.

SAKUSA
So, you're Koyama-San's
younger sister.

KOYAMA
(Laughs)
Is that supposed
to be a question?

KOYAMA
(Lightly places her
bangs behind her
ears, and thus revealing
their pink hue).
I am indeed.
I'm 18, turning
19 this year.

SAKUSA
Oh, I just
turned 20
this year.

KOYAMA
(Looks up at him
with surprise).
Oh, you're
my Senpai.

SAKUSA
Yeah, but, uh,
you don't need to
call me that.
(Places a hand behind
his neck bashfully).

SAKUSA
Iizuna-San told
me you're planning
to attend Todai.

KOYAMA
yeah, I am!

SAKUSA
I'm a student
there.

KOYAMA
(Excited)
Oh? What's
your major?

SAKUSA
Kinesiology.

KOYAMA
That's cool!

KOYAMA
(Sighs)
I want to major
in plant physiology.

SAKUSA
(Curious)
Fan of the sciences?

KOYAMA
(Flustered)
Yeah, I am,
weird for a
girl, right?

SAKUSA
Not at all,
if that's what
you truly want to
study, no gender
stereotype is going
to get in your way.

KOYAMA
You're a cool
guy aren't you,
Sakusa-San?

SAKUSA
No, not really.

KOYAMA
