INT. STARBUCKS — NOON

SAKUSA sat near the window, at a booth style table at the very back of the busy coffee place. Across from SAKUSA sat HINATA SHOYO.

The shorter male smiled with content as he sipped on the green straw that provided him with a slow and cold blast combination of bitter mocha and sweet caramel syrup with whipped cream.

HINATA
I like hanging out with
you Omi-San, but this
is a rare event.
(Laughs).

HINATA
(Looks up).
Is something wrong?

SAKUSA
(Upset)
She hates me.

HINATA
(startled)
E-Eh?

HINATA
Omi-San you're going
to drop your drink!

SAKUSA glanced down at his hand, coffee drops had already seeped through his fingers and dripped onto the surface of the table. The raven cringes and pulls out a few disinfectant wipes to clean up after his mess.

SAKUSA
(Halts).
I can't stop
thinking about it.

HINATA
(Worried)
Omi-San?

SAKUSA
I...listened to Koyama-San's
concerns yesterday, and,
I didn't expect the answer
she gave me, and that she
maybe hates me.

HINATA
(Smiles sheepishly)
Did she say anything else?

SAKUSA
(Blank)
She hates me because
she wishes she was
like me.

HINATA
(Smiles in
understanding)
Then, that's
not hate.

SAKUSA
(Frowns).
huh?

HINATA
(Chuckles).
What I meant to say is,
she's jealous.

SAKUSA
But why?

HINATA
(Sweat drops)
E-Eh, well, take me for
example. I'm jealous of you
because of your height.

HINATA
It's the same with
Koyama-San, she's jealous of
a quality that you have, because
she thinks it would help her.

HINATA
(Sighs with a bit of
disappointment).
She hasn't reached the
point of embracing herself as she is.
My height looked like a disadvantage
at first, but now, look at me,
I've used it to my advantage.

HINATA
I've learned to love my so called
"disadvantage", but she hasn't.
Be patient with her Omi-San.

SAKUSA
(Slumps his shoulders).
I've never had to deal
with someone so emotional
before.

HINATA
(Bursts out laughing).
Omi-San, maybe this is your
chance to loosen up a bit!

SAKUSA
You say she's jealous of me?
Well, I'm jealous of her too.

HINATA
(Surprised and intrigued)
Oh, why's that?

SAKUSA
(Looks into Hinata's eyes
with a bit of embarrassment).
She's easy to talk to.

HINATA
(Amused)
But we're talking
right now Omi-San.

SAKUSA
You said this is
a rare event.

HINATA
Okay, yeah,
you're right.

A silence, not so comfortable, but not completely uncomfortable enough to be filled with pointless conversation, falls between them.

After a while, something came to HINATA's mind, and the ginger decided to give SAKUSA a helping hand.

HINATA
You know, Omi-San,
the two of you are much
more alike than you think.

SAKUSA
(Incredulous)
How so?

HINATA
Koyama-San may be outgoing,
but like you, she keeps her
circle of closest friends
at a minimum. She's not afraid
to speak her mind, but unlike you,
it only comes to her when she's
confident that she won't be judged.
You on the other hand, do not care
what people think, wether it be a friend or a complete stranger.

HINATA
You two have a lot to
learn from each other.

SAKUSA
(Amused)
For someone with terrible
grades, you give pretty
good advice.

HINATA
(Annoyed)
Grades have nothing to
do with being able to give
good advice Omi-San!

SAKUSA and HINATA looked at each other for a second, before bursting out into small heaps of laughter.
