AS ONE| ACT LXIX

EXT. TOKYO DOME CITY — BIG O — LATE AFTERNOON

KOYAMA wasn't sure when, or how, she was tricked into this uncomfortable situation, but one minute she was led to Big O by ATSUMU, and the next she was trapped with SAKUSA sitting across from her. The doors were closed, and they started to move upwards.

KOYAMA sat very close to the back of her seat, feet tightly tucked together since she didn't want to bounce her foot and make more unnecessary movement.

SAKUSA stared out of the window, the view made his stomach feel a bit queasy, but it was beautiful nonetheless. A baby blue sky was turning lilac, and the clouds ranging from various hues of pink and orange, hovered above the horizon like a blanket. As they began to reach the highest point of Big O, the sun's rays flooded in, and made them squint their eyes ever so slightly.

SAKUSA turned to look at KOYAMA, and she was looking at him already. Her eyes, through the sun, were the color of melting milk chocolate held within a deep indigo limbal ring.

The raven realized how much he'd missed her eyes on him. How could a single glance from her, make him feel like he'd found an oasis in the middle of the Sahara?

The world, he realized, was brighter with her in it.

SAKUSA
Are you scared
of heights?

KOYAMA
(Shy)
Yeah, I am.
I haven't really been
on rides before.
Or traveled by plane,
or used a latter either.

KOYAMA
I avoid heights as much
as possible, but I wanted
to see how I could
handle it today.

SAKUSA
And so far?

KOYAMA
(Untucks her hair).
It's bearable.

SAKUSA
(Smiles).
Look outside.

KOYAMA
Oh no no!
(Shakes her head).

SAKUSA
You'll love the
view. Sunsets are
your favorite.

KOYAMA glanced out the window, and the look of amazement on her face captured SAKUSA's heart instantaneously. The brunette glanced downward, and immediately regretted it. She turned away, and placed a hand above her chest. The girl started hyperventilating, and SAKUSA could almost see the cogs turning in her head.

KOYAMA begged him, with her eyes, to hold her, but she couldn't say the words out loud, in fear of stuttering, and embarrassing herself. Was it really okay for her to ask him for support now? KOYAMA realized that she'd let her ex's words cause a wound, a wound in her heart, that eventually bled out and tainted her thoughts.

The brunette was brought back to reality, with the warmth of gentle hands cupping her face. SAKUSA caressed her face with his thumbs, and after a few minutes, she felt at ease.

KOYAMA
(Blushing).
It was pretty, but
I shouldn't have
looked down at all.

SAKUSA
(Shaky sigh).
Tsuru, I didn't mean
to hurt your feelings.

KOYAMA
Neither did I.

KOYAMA
I was too self
absorbed in my
frustration.

KOYAMA
I know I have nothing to
do with it, but I felt
bad that even with me, you
didn't want to go out. I
know you don't like crowds,
but I wasn't planning on
leaving you alone, you know?

KOYAMA
But...things didn't go well
and I ended up doing
just that.

SAKUSA
I'm sorry for getting
angry as well. I read
too much into your reaction
and just made everything
worse.

SAKUSA
I thought you'd be fine
going with everyone else.
I wasn't thinking about the
fact that you wanted me
here to be with me.

SAKUSA
(Sigh).
I didn't want to annoy you
and ruin your excitement.
I get sick pretty easily
on rides, and I get paranoid
so—

KOYAMA
I'd never been to an
amusement park before,
so, although I did like
the rides in the moment,
I've started feeling
icky now.

KOYAMA
So, when you got on this
thing, did you imagine
yourself falling out?

SAKUSA
(Sweat drops).
More or less.

KOYAMA
(Sweat drops).
We're so weird.

SAKUSA squished KOYAMA's cheeks and the brunette's eyes widened with surprise.

SAKUSA
(Smirk).
The only one who's
weird here is you.

KOYAMA
HEwy-!

SAKUSA
But you're lucky you're
a cute weirdo. My cute
weirdo.

SAKUSA let go of KOYAMA's face and the brunette didn't waste the chance to embrace him.
