INT. SAKUSA HOUSEHOLD - LATE AFTERNOON

SAKUSA's mother opened the pink Tupperware and marveled at the sight of the organized desserts. Taking out small plates for everyone at the table, SAKUSA's mother passed them around.

S. MOTHER
These look rather small
for the regular size of
Mochi's, but they're cute
nonetheless.

SAKUSA
Koyama-San said
this was her first
time making them.

S. TOMIO
Koyama?

SAKUSA
(Cough).
It's not Koyama Cho;
I'm talking about
her younger sister.

SAKUSA's sister raised an eyebrow as she took a bite out of her Mochi. Her apprehension dropped as she savored the sweet flavor of the sweet red bean paste and the clash of it's sour strawberry counterpart.

S. MOMOKO
Mmmm, this is
amazing! (Grins).

S. MOMOKO
You better thank
Koyama-San on my
behalf. These are
great.

S. MOMOKO
(Desperate)
I wouldn't mind
her making a dozen
of these for me,
since mom can't
make them.

S. MOTHER
(Annoyed)
You can make
them yourself!

S. MOMOKO
I don't wanna.

S. TOMIO
Lazy ass

S. MOMOKO
Nerd ass

S. FATHER
I can't believe either
of you are in your
twenty's.

S. FATHER
Behave yourselves.

S. FATHER
(Stern)
Especially you, Tomio,
you're twenty-seven, act
like it.

S. MOMOKO
Man, we're old!
At this rate Tomio,
I feel like our little
bro over here's going to
get married first.

SAKUSA
(Sigh).
I don't think so.

S. TOMIO
(Raises an eyebrow).
Haven't met
anyone yet?

SAKUSA
(Sighs).

S. MOTHER
I think it's wise for
the three of you to not
tease each other, especially
with the fact that all of you
are hopelessly single.

S. MOMOKO
That hurt a little.

S. TOMIO
Tell me about it.

The siblings made dejected expressions as their mother laughed.

S. MOMOKO
(Disappointed)
Ka-San, I'm good looking,
but nobody wants me cause
To-San keeps scaring away
my suitors.

S. TOMIO
(Laughs).

S. MOTHER
(Purses her lips).
Kiyoomi, by any chance,
would you happen to have
an image of your roommate?

S. MOTHER
I'd like to know since
she's living with you
after all.

SAKUSA
(Hesitant)
I'll ask her if
she's okay with it.

S. MOMOKO
Oh my, I wanna
see her too!

S. FATHER
(Glancing at his
empty plate with
feigned disinterest).

SAKUSA pulled out his phone and scrolled through his recent conversations. Stopping on KOYAMA's contact, SAKUSA bashfully sent her a message.

SAKUSA
Koyama-San, Ka-San asked
if I could show her a picture
of you. Is that okay with you?

SAKUSA opened the image. The brunette sat in the sand, and a red colored journal was clutched close to her chest. The brunette wore a black sun hat, a simple white dress, and a black crochet shawl. The sky was painted with orange and pink hues, but instead of keeping her sights on the heavens, the brunette stared right at the camera. Her smile, displayed her Cupid's bow, and her dimples perfectly. Clutched in her left hand, against the sand, a small sea shell was trapped in between her thumb and index finger.

SAKUSA saw beyond the initial impression of the image. Her body drew into itself and her ears were tinted a soft red hue. Her expression, although composed, and joyous, had been provoked rather than made up solely for the purpose of looking photogenic.

He'd know. He was the photographer after all.

SAKUSA didn't hear the end of it as his mother and siblings gushed over the brunette, and soon enough, they asked him to bring her with on his next visit.
