INT. SAKUSA — KOYAMA APARTMENT — MID AFTERNOON

SAKUSA and KOYAMA stood next to each other with sour faces. SAKUSA looked down at KOYAMA and shook his head.

SAKUSA
(Bewildered)
How did you manage
to cut yourself
while peeling carrots?

KOYAMA
(Cringes).
I really don't
know Sakusa-San.
I was just, peelin'
away and that
happened.

SAKUSA
Tsk, everyday you're
starting to sound more
and more like Miya.

KOYAMA
My bad! I just pick
up on people's speech
habits sometimes. Is
that weird?

SAKUSA
(Surprised).

SAKUSA
(Coughs).
I'll go get the
hydrogen peroxide
and bandaids.

SAKUSA
In the meantime,
hold this against
the cut.

KOYAMA
(Confused)
Onion?

SAKUSA
It has a chemical
compound known as
"Allicin". It's
anti inflammatory.

KOYAMA
Hmm, the more
you know.

SAKUSA
Although, it's not
adequate to leave it
up to just natural
methods,since it's
a deep cut, I still have
to disinfect it.

KOYAMA
(Shaky)
Yeah, I know.

KOYAMA
I don't even want
to look at it again.
My skin literally
peeled upwards.

SAKUSA
(Disgusted)
Stop.

KOYAMA
My bad.

SAKUSA
You're lucky I don't
leave anything rusted
in my kitchen, but, just
to be safe, you've got
your tetanus shot right?

KOYAMA
Didn't think someone
would ever ask me that,
aside from my doctor,
but yes, yes I do.

SAKUSA
(Unimpressed)
Very funny, I'm
simply being cautious.

KOYAMA
No matter, this still
means you care about
my health, and that
makes me happy.

SAKUSA
Ever since that day,
you've kept up these
specific commentaries.

KOYAMA
Yet, I can never do it
subtly because you're
always pointing it out.

SAKUSA
(Sighs).
It's just frustrating.

KOYAMA
I call it testing out
the waters because
I can sense your
unease every time
we try to talk about
it with concrete
words.

SAKUSA looks through the cabinets, and he finds the hydrogen peroxide and the box of bandaids. Walking up to KOYAMA, SAKUSA held out his hand and KOYAMA gently lay her hand on top of his.

The raven warned her that the hydrogen peroxide would fizzle, but it wouldn't hurt at all.

SAKUSA
My frustration is being
unable to handle it every
time you say things like
that, especially when
words and comebacks aren't
my area of expertise.

SAKUSA
I'm afraid really, of
being unable to meet
you at the halfway
point. I can't empathize
as easily as others do,
and I can't give you
pity either. I'm a realist,
and that's completely different
from your idealistic mindset.

SAKUSA wrapped a thick bandaid around KOYAMA's index finger.

SAKUSA
(Worried)
Is that alright?

KOYAMA
Perfect.

SAKUSA
Koyama...

KOYAMA
Hmm?

SAKUSA's eyes close, and his eyebrows furrow, as he takes her hand and presses it against his cheek.

SAKUSA
(Afraid)
I'm scared.

KOYAMA
(Baffled)
Why?

SAKUSA wanted to look into her eyes, the eyes of the person he had begun to love so much, but he was a coward.

He was a coward because he could feel her hand turn cold against his warm skin, and in his ears, her soft and shaky voice that conveyed uncertainty rung out through his heart and made it beat impossibly faster than he saw fit for a "healthy" twenty year old.

SAKUSA
Once everything's
out in the open I'm
afraid that everything'll
go wrong, like it always
does for me.

SAKUSA
But I don't want to
stop feeling this way.
I want to accept you
as you are, and be
accepted as I am, but
I know that you need
time to figure out what's
best for you.

KOYAMA
Can I hug you?

SAKUSA
(Opens his eyes
in surprise).

KOYAMA
(Laughs).
Or not?

KOYAMA
(Cheerful)
We'll get there.

KOYAMA
You scared me for
a second there, but
I think I see where
you're coming from.

KOYAMA
(Teasing)
It sounds to me like
you want a girlfriend.

SAKUSA
(Sarcastic)
Who would've guessed?

KOYAMA
(Smiles).
I'm sorry for
this confusion.

SAKUSA
I don't mind.
