INT. SAKUSA - KOYAMA APARTMENT — LATE AFTERNOON

KOYAMA walked into the apartment, and she was immediately taken aback by the wonderful smell of blueberries. The brunette wafted the air desperately, and with a newfound excitement, she threw off her shoes.

The brunette paused for a moment, looking at her scattered shoes. Sighing, she went back and neatly placed them beside the rest of her shoes.

KOYAMA dropped her school bag near the doorframe of her room and hurried toward the kitchen.

KOYAMA
(Happy)
Sakusa-San, what
are you making?

SAKUSA
(holding back a smile).

SAKUSA
(Cough/laugh).

SAKUSA
I'm making blueberry
pie Koyama-San.

KOYAMA
(places a strand of her
hair behind her ear).
Oh, I love
blueberries!

SAKUSA
I know.

KOYAMA
(confused)
How do you
know?

SAKUSA
I have my ways.
(Shrugs).

KOYAMA
Ah, what a
mysterious man
you are.

SAKUSA
The same could
be said about
you Koyama-San.

KOYAMA
(Laughs).
Not as much as you!
I barely know what's
on your mind by just
looking at you, but you
on the other hand, I bet
you could tell if I was
upset without even batting
an eyelash!

KOYAMA
But I only say this because
many people have told me before
that I'm that type of person.

SAKUSA
(Mumbles)
Remember how you said
you hated me because
you wish you were like
me?

KOYAMA
what did you say
Sakusa-San? I
couldn't hear you.

SAKUSA
Never mind.

KOYAMA
(Frown).
I was waiting for
you to say it again,
but louder this time,
since I did hear you.

SAKUSA
(An irk mark
appears on his
forehead).

SAKUSA
(Grits his teeth).
If you heard me then
why make me repeat
myself?

KOYAMA
I like messing
with you.
(laughs).

KOYAMA
But yes, I do remember
saying that. By the way,
sorry, I shouldn't have
said that at all.

SAKUSA
I don't mind,
because I'm jealous
of you too.

KOYAMA
What? Why?
(Worried)
You're really
cool Sakusa-San,
I mean,
you even have
a group of fans.

SAKUSA
Having fans isn't as
great as having friends.
You may be "an open book",
but that's allowed you to
make strong friendships.
I wish I was as likable
as you are.

SAKUSA
I struggled as a child.
Really, I didn't even like
going outside, so when time
came for me to go to school
I was horrified.

SAKUSA
If it weren't for
KOMORI, I would've
never gotten into
volleyball, and met
everyone that I'm friends
with now.

KOYAMA
Do you...still
feel isolated
Sakusa-San?

SAKUSA
Maybe, but I'm
used to it. I've
never been good with
expressing my emotions
and going out to places
just makes me feel sick
so I'd rather not hang
out with anyone often,
even if it means giving
up time to grow closer
with others.

KOYAMA
But I've heard that
you're highly observant,
and cautious. Those are your
strengths, and I admire you
for them Sakusa-San. I may be
friendly, but I can be easily
fooled because I trust others
too quickly.

SAKUSA
Someone told me we have
a lot to learn from each
other, and I think I
understand what he means
now.

SAKUSA
Let's do our best
Koyama-San.

KOYAMA
Let's do our best!

The doorbell to the apartment chimed. KOYAMA raised an eyebrow.

KOYAMA
Are you expecting
visitors? Is that
why you were making
the blueberry pie?

SAKUSA
(Nods).
Although, I
don't think they're
here to see me.

KOYAMA
(Taken aback).
Why's that?

SAKUSA
Hey, you guys can
come in already!

KOYAMA's eyes widened in surprise as SAKUSA's friends, and her friends now too, walked into the apartment with balloons and confetti canons.

KOYAMA started crying, and everyone went into a panicked frenzy.
