BABY | ACT LXXI

INT. HOSPITAL : MATERNITY — NOON

SAKUSA felt a bit out of place, but CHO herself had called out to him from inside the hospital room. KOYAMA laughed as she watched him trudge inside as he glared at her. SAKUSA greeted CHO, and the short haired brunette smiled brightly.

K. CHO
I'm glad you two
could make it.

SAKUSA
Tsuru wouldn't
have forgiven me
if we didn't.

KOYAMA
(Crosses her arms).
You make it sound
like I forced you
to be here Kiyo!

SAKUSA
(Grins).
It is like that.

KOYAMA
(Hits Sakusa's
shoulder).
Stop!!

SAKUSA
(Raises his hands).
Okay okay.

K. CHO
My money.

IIZUNA
(Rubs his eyes).
Ugh, okay, whatever.

IIZUNA
I'll give it to you
at home.

KOYAMA
What's that all
about?

K. CHO
I was the one
who bet that you
two would end up dating.

K. CHO
Tsukasa may have introduced
you two, but he didn't have
faith in the ship
like I did.

SAKUSA
(Shakes his head).

KOYAMA
Man, I'm disappointed
in you Iizuna-San.

IIZUNA
You can't blame me.
Sakusa had never dated
anyone in high school so
I doubted he'd have an
interest now in college.

KOYAMA
(Surprised, turns
to look at Sakusa).
You've never dated
anybody?

SAKUSA
(Blushing).
Yeah.

KOYAMA
(Gasps).
No way!

KOYAMA
You're hot!

SAKUSA
(Face palms).
Stop.

KOYAMA
I mean that's a
win for me, BUT STILL,
WHAT IN THE WORLD?

KOYAMA
People are blind
these days!

SAKUSA
Thanks for that,
you set her off.
(Glares at Iizuna).

IIZUNA
(Wiggles his eyebrows).
You're welcome.

A nurse walked in with the baby, and
KENJI suddenly burst into tears. GENEVIEVE, his girlfriend, looked a bit shocked by his reaction, and so was CHO. CHO of course, held him first, and IIZUNA, with a bit of hesitation, also held him.

CHO asked KOYAMA if she wanted to hold him, and the brunette panicked.

KOYAMA
(Nervous)
I couldn't—

SAKUSA
(Nudges her side).
Come on, you
wanted to.

KOYAMA
Oh come on! Don't
expose me like that!

K. CHO
Tsuru I don't
want to hear you
complaining over this
years later.

KOYAMA
Alright, fine.

IIZUNA stood up and carefully placed the baby in KOYAMA's arms. The brunette's heart was hammering against her chest as she made observations of his features. KOYAMA was sure that he'd grow up to look like a mini IIZUNA, but she hoped he wouldn't be as whiny as his father.

KOYAMA gently tapped his small nose, and she laughed when the child in her arms turned his face away from her.

KOYAMA
He's mine now.

K. CHO
(Annoyed)
Tsuru!

IIZUNA and CHO looked at SAKUSA whose face had suddenly gone blank. His eyes never left KOYAMA's face. The raven was certainly trying to save the image of her reaction in his head.

SAKUSA had never imagined that KOYAMA would ever like him back, so now, he'd never imagine having a family with her, because what good would imagining do, when he could have it all in real life? He had her love, and now he wanted a life with her.

SAKUSA would never tell KOYAMA that this was the moment in which he realized that he'd marry her. The brunette, all on her own, would find out that her lover chose her as his lifetime companion in a year's time from this day.
