Before, I always have many things that I take for granted. My whole life in general.

I am so fixated on having the freedom I always wished for, that I kept on forgetting how lucky I am for having all the blessing I have in my life.

As I glanced all the people surrounding me here at my party. I can't help but to feel teary and happy at the same time. I glanced each and everyone of them as I unconsciously smile.

The party is almost at the end, and the visitors are just busy with their own little world. Eating, conversing, laughing and greeting me before they leave.

I am very much thankful that I reached this milestone in my life, but in the bottom of my heart there's still one thing I want to do before this day ends.

As the party ended, I gently tugged Ulysses coat that made his attention shift to me. He looked at me with a quizzical expression waiting for me to tell him what I want.

I took a deep breath and sighed before telling him.

"Can we go somewhere else after this?" with a soft tone I asked.

His eyebrows raised as he tried to understand the meaning behind I what said.

"I just want to do something before we go home" nahihiyang sambit ko.

Alam kong malalim na ang gabi, at hindi appropriate na magkasama kaming dalawa nang kami lang. Pero hindi ko talaga kayang palipasin ang araw na ito nang hindi iyon ginagawa. Para sakin ito na ang tamang panahon.

Nalilito man sa gusto kong mangyari, he just warmly smiled and nodded.

"Anything for you birthday girl"

Tumayo ko mula sa pagkakaupo at naglakad papalapit kay papa.

Kasalukuyan siyang nakikipag usap sa iilang mga kaibigan nya sa negosyo nang tumabi ako sa gilid nya at agad naman nya akong nilingon.

"Yes dear?" he asked as he excuse himself a bit from the group.

Bahagya akong nanginginig sa kaba dahil baka hindi niya ako payagan. Pinaglalaruan ko ang mga daliri ko habang nakayuko, at pabulong na sinabi.

"Pa, can I ask your permission to visit mom tonight?" dahan dahan kong inangat ang tingin ko para tingnan ang mga mata ni papa. And I caught him smiling at me.

"Of course you can Iva" he immediately answered.

"With Ulysses?"

My father's smile eventually faded after I said that I'll be taking Ulysses with me.

He just looked at me in the eye trying to understand the reason behind my plead.

We were just silently looking back at each other until he finally sighed, looked down and said.

"Okay" he glanced at me. "But take Mr. Jones with you"

"Thank you Pa!" I almost jump in happiness and hugged him.

"Don't get me wrong sweetie, I just want to make sure you're alright. It's not that I don't trust him okay?" he said as he carresses my back before we parted.
