As Yagura was staring down at Dam, many of the audience were astonished with her display while Dam was staring at her with a cold demeanor.
"What makes you think you can tell me what to do?" Dam asked.
"Don't take that tone with me." Yagura said with a stern look, "After everything we have done for you, this is how you repay us?! When my husband chose to bring you into our family, you were just a depressed but kind hearted child whom i could easily call my son but now, i don't even know what you are anymore.
Dam, whether or not you take me as your mother , i don't care but if you have any respect for my husband, the man who adopted you, then you'll confess everything that happened."
As Dam and Yagura locked eyes with each other, Dam sighed with his eyes closed.
"Fine." Dam said as the black swirling around his body quells.
Dam glanced at the trembling Meeno and quickly faced the ground.
"As we all know it was 5 years ago when Chief Dai lost his life..." Dam said.
A flashback occurs as little Dam was running in the marketplace, carrying some cabbages in his hands.
'I was tasked by Lady Yagura to get some cabbages for the soup she was planning to make after training and that's when this happened...'
While running, Dam comes across a crowd who seemed to be looking at something in front of them.
"What the-?"
"How is this possible?!"
"Chief Dai?!"
Dam being curious, began to make his way through crowd to discover what they were talking about. Reaching the frontline, the cabbages on Dam's hands dropped to the ground as Dam stared in shock and horror at Chief Dai's body which laid on the ground while severely bleeding from his side.
"Father..." Dam said.
"FATHER!!!" Dam said while running towards him.
"Father, please, hold on!" Dam said while panicking as he placed his hands on Chief Dai's side, "He needs help... He needs... SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP HIM!!!"
However, the people stood there staring at Dam with scorn while some looked away from the scene, leaving Dam in shock.
"WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!" Dam asked, "OUR CHIEF IS DYING AND ALL OF YOU ARE JUST STANDING THERE?! SOMEBODY HELP HIM!!!"
The crowd still stood there staring at Dam which made Dam stare at them with widened eyes.
"Somebody..." Dam said softly.
"Dam..." A weak toned voice called.
Dam looks down and sees the person to be Chief Dai who happened to be holding Dam's hands.
"Father..." Dam called as tears were flowing out of his eyes.
"Dam, I-"
Chief Dai immediately gives up the ghost and his hand drops lifelessly on the ground, leaving Dam completely heartbroken that his irises glowed.
As Dam began to sob on Chief Dai's hand, Chief Dai's body was immediately covered with black ice and shattered into billions of atoms, leaving Dam stunned.
"He killed him... That accursed boy killed our Chief!" A feminine voice said.
This accusation quickly left Dam in shock.
"What...?" Dam asked.
"You killed our Chief! You murderer!" A Kenar man said.
"No, i didn't!" Dam said, "Our Chief was dying! You people just stood there and-"
"I knew they shouldn't have brought that boy into their family." A Kenar woman cuts in, "Now, look at what he has done."
"But i didn't-!"
"I say we kill the child." A Kenar man cuts in.
"Yeah! Let's kill the evil child to avenge our Chief!" Another Kenar man said.
"Yes, we'll cleanse this land from the evil that dwells among us!" A Kenar woman said.
"Wha-!"
"Kill the devil!!" A Kenar man said with his fist raised in the air.
"Yes! Let's kill the little demon!" A Kenar woman said.
"Yeah!" The crowd said.
"Let's get rid of him once and for all!!" A feminine voice sounded among the people.
'It was at that moment, i got to understand what people were.'
Just as a group of Kenars were about to advance towards Dam to attack him, a white stone appeared out of nowhere and created a bright light that caused many of the Kenars to cover their eyes.
As Dam regained consciousness, he found himself in a wasteland along with two Kenar men and a Kenar woman.
"Where are we?" The Kenar woman asked.
"I'm not sure but whatever happened, it must be because of that boy over there!" A bald Kenar man said as his eyes rolls towards Dam.
"Indeed. It should be because of him." A bearded ponytail Kenar man said while walking towards Dam, "For too long, your death has been delayed.
We the people of the Kenar tribe were ordered not to kill you by the previous Chief of our tribe before she lost her life in a battle, all because she couldn't stand the idea of a child dying.
When she lost her life, we thought we were going to get rid of the evil in our land until Chief Dai adopted you. Good thing he is not here now. Now, we can finally get rid of you, accursed one."
"After everything he has done for you, you'd turn your back on him?" Dam asked while facing the ground as his upper face was covered with the shade of his hair.
"Who cares if he's gone?" The Kenar woman asked with a smirk.
"Yeah, i never liked him anyway." The bald Kenar man said while smiling, "Plus, I'm sure many of our people will be rejoicing in their hearts."
"The point is we are doing what has been delayed for so long." The bearded Kenar man said as he sets himself in a stance to punch Dam with his aura engulfed fist, "Sorry, little one, but you must die for the good of everyone."
"GET AWAY FROM ME!!!" Dam screamed in rage as he instantly sent a large line of black ice that immediately splits the bearded Kenar man in half.
"Damn you!!" The Kenar woman said as she immediately charged towards Dam and punched him in the belly which sent him tumbling on the ground.
As Dam laid face flat on the ground in a lifeless manner, the Kenar woman smirked at his corpse.
"He's dead." The woman said.
Dam instantly coughed and groaned in pain while struggling to stand, leaving the Kenar woman shocked.
"He's still alive?" The bald Kenar man asked in shock, "Ikora, how is this possible?"
"I don't know, Lai..." Ikora replied with a wide-eyed expression, "I know i didn't use my Kan ability or my full strength to hit him but regardless, that punch was more than enough to kill someone of his caliber."
As Dam stood on his feet while emitting a black aura, black wings suddenly sprout out of his back and Dam quickly raised his head and was glaring at the two while gritting his teeth as his eyes completely turned black. In a fit of rage,Dam immediately charged towards the two with a yell.
Minutes later as it was raining, the blood soaked Dam walked towards the end of a cliff and fell on his knees and began to sob.
"Just remember, Dam, as long as you keep helping people and treating them with kindness, there will always be someone to help you back up when you are in need." Chief Dai's voice replayed in Dam's head.
Dam quickly recalls earlier as the injured Chief Dai laying on the ground while the people stood there and watched.
"Why...?" Dam asked himself after recalling that moment, "After everything he has done for them, they still turned their back on him. Unforgivable... Unforgivable...!"
"ABSOLUTELY UNFORGIVABLE!!!!" Dam said as he instantly emitted a large black aura.
Dam began to scream with so much rage while still emitting a large black aura along with his eyes completely glowing.
Learning what truly happened, Meeno and the audience were completely dumbfounded.
"I-it can't be..." Yulin said within herself.
"We betrayed our Chief...?" Rish asked within himself.
"Dam... Is that what truly happened?" Yagura asked.
"You wanted the truth and i told you what happened." Dam replied while still facing the ground, "Whether you believe me or not, is none of my business."
"Our people turned their back on father..." Meeno softly said.
"Pathetic, isn't it?" Dam asked, "After everything he did for them, it took them nothing to turn their backs on him only to pin it on me. Well, i can't say i blame them. After all, trash will always be trash.
Hey, Meeno. Do you remember 7 years ago when Avel attacked the Kenar tribe's domain, beating most of the strongest warriors and leaving just Chief Dai?"
A flashback occurs as a battered Chief Dai was on his knees, trying to stop an enormous ball of light from descending to the ground with both of his hands.
"Damn that Avel." Chief Dai said within himself, "To think he'd be this strong... Damn it! I've used up all my power in battling him and right now, I'm completely drained!"
The enormous ball began to grow larger in size, making it more difficult for Chief Dai to handle.
"Crap! I'm fading here!" Chief Dai said within himself, "I may have warned Chief Garou of Avel's incoming invasion through the Kan communication of the heart but still, if this attack should hit the ground, then not just the Kenars but all of Agaroth will be destroyed!
That's why...!"
Chief Dai quickly stood on one knee, leaving many of the Kenars including Yagura in shock.
"AS CHIEF OF MY PEOPLE, DYING IS NOT AN OPTION!!!" Chief Dai said in a deepened voice while emitting a powerful aura along with his irises glowing.
Chief Dai began to compress the enormous ball with his hands as he stood on his feet while yelling in a deepened voice. During the compression, Chief Dai lets out a powerful deepened bawl as the Kenar markings on his body glowed along with his eyes completely glowing, leading him to immediately compress the ball.
After compressing the attack, Chief bawls once again as he spreads his arms apart, emitting a powerful aura that shot up to the sky while sending an intense wind pressure shockwave that spread throughout all of Agaroth, catching Chief Garou off guard.
"Chief Dai...?" Chief Garou asked within himself.
"Despite being weakened, all he thought about was saving everyone." Dam said after recalling that moment, "He once told me that his family isn't just limited to me, you and Lady Yagura but everyone in the tribe and i can bet that he even considered the whole of Agaroth his family but yet, despite everything, he was still betrayed."
"I don't believe a word you say!" A Kenar woman said among the audience as she stood on her feet, "You said earlier that you were the one responsible for Chief Dai's death, remember? And now you want us to believe that our people stood there and watched a good man die just to pin the blame on you?!"
"Woman, sit your ass down." Dam replied while still facing the ground.
"What?!" The Kenar woman said within herself in anger as her irises glowed.
"If you look at it, i am partly responsible for the death of Chief Dai." Dam said, "If i wasn't brought into his home... If i wasn't adopted then maybe he might have still lived... Maybe. Or that sort of thing could have just happened without me seeing it, who knows.
Funny, isn't it? Chief Dai with his naive teachings always talked about treating people with kindness but in the end, look where it got him. With what happened, i got to understand there is no point of me bothering of what I'll become when people are like this."
"You gave up on people... " Yagura said while tears were flowing from her eyes, "You gave up on yourself..."
"Gave up?" Dam asked while still facing the ground, "More like i opened my eyes to the two faced gutter trash people are. Always acting holy, always acting like they are trying to vanquish one evil or the other when they are just as bad as they are.
I initially hated people after what happened to Chief Dai but then i realized that there was no point in hating hopeless objects."
"Then why? Why did you come back after all these years?" Yagura asked, "Becoming a Pilgrim is about bringing honor as a warrior to Agaroth while fighting to protect humanity.
You have nothing to honor, neither do you have anything to fight for, so why are you back?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Dam asked as he turned to look at her, "Chief Dai was laying on the ground, injured on that day. Something must have happened to him and I'm going to get to the bottom of it. That's the least i can do for him.
Humph, i so much wanted to be like him when i was little. I wanted people to have at least respect and admiration for me and not to look at me as some kind of monster or accursed thing but i got to realize they aren't worth it.
Keep your respect and admiration to yourselves, i don't need them. What i want is to find out what truly happened to Chief Dai and when i'm done, I'm gone.
I will become a Pilgrim even if i have to mow everyone in this tournament just to do it."
At the Chiefs center, Chief Ezgord eyes quickly rolls towards Chief Akuro.
"Chief Akuro..." Chief Ezgord called.
"I didn't know anything about this." Chief Akuro said while facing the arena with a shocked demeanor, "When i got back from my training 5 years ago, hoping to challenge Chief Dai for the title, i heard a completely different story."
During their discussion, Chief Tenya stood on her feet.
"Dam." Chief Tenya called, prompting Dam to look at her, "I've felt the balance behind every last word of yours; they were all dark and cold but there was no hint of lies in them. You're completely telling the truth."
At this moment, the audience were left with a huge disbelief while some of the Kenars began to murmur among themselves.
"He's telling the truth?"
"T-this can't be..."
"I thought he was lying through his teeth."
"Me too."
"If what he is saying is true then we have betrayed our Chief!"
"What have we done?"
"Come! Who were those bastards at the marketplace that day?! We need to round up every last one of them and punish them for their treachery!"
As the Kenars were murmuring among themselves, Dam turns towards Meeno who happened to be wiping the tears off his eyes while sobbing.
"Hey, Meeno." Dam called, "You've gotten what you wanted. Happy now?
Come to think of it, you had no interest in becoming a Pilgrim. All you wanted was to meet me at this tournament, hoping to get me to confess everything that happened in front of everyone.
Fool. What if you had fought Karma or Sting or Gorn or Onak or anyone else, what next?"
"Big brother, i-"
"I'm not your brother." Dam cuts in, "But because of the mood i'm in, i'll give you a choice: Forfeit this tournament and walk out of here while you still can. But if you insist on continuing then whatever happens to you will be on your head."
