As Yagura was being carried away on a stretcher by healers with Meeno accompanying them, chief Grai sighed and spoke.
"Well, that was a scene." Chief Grai said.
"They got away. We got careless and let them escape." Chief Miza said.
"It doesn't matter. There are still a lot of hivelings in this city and with this new barrier, their means of escape has been nullified." Chief Grai said to chief Miza, "The hiveling hunt is still happening regardless and besides anyone would have taken their eyes away from them with what happened. Mark my words, they will be found and they will answer for what they did."
While chief Grai and Miza were talking, chief Tenya took notice of chief Akuro's troubled countenance.
"Something bothering you? The hivelings escape?" Chief Tenya asked.
"No, it's Dam." Chief Akuro answered, "What we all witnessed earlier... The myths of a black ice user. The more i think about this, the more it makes sense and terrifies me."
"I don't understand." Chief Tenya said.
"In the tournament, i thought he was giving his all against the Dreygar but it seems that he was holding back. He was trying to fight within the limits he created for himself until he decided no more." Chief Akuro said, "Until he decided to win no matter the cost, then we got to see a glimpse of his power."
"Wait, you mean that moment...?" Chief Tenya asked.
"Yes, the moment we witnessed the first black snow." Chief Akuro said.
Chief Akuro and chief Tenya recalled that moment (in chapter 51) as Dam stood on his feet with cracked eye lids and his eyes being completely black while black snow was descending to the ground.
"But that was nothing compared to what we saw earlier. I could feel the great danger in his power. Danger so strong that my entire body was filled with the urge to attack and kill him but i refrained." Chief Akuro said after the remembrance, "We should have stopped the match before it got that far. If it wasn't for his broken body, there was a big possibility he would have killed the Dreygar girl and that woman."
The explanation of chief Akuro left chief Tenya short of words.
"There is a saying that the black ice users can only love once, and once that love dies, they can never love again; their hearts will become as cold as ice itself and as black as the shadows." Chief Akuro said, "And as they grow older, not only will their power grow but so will their dark frozen hearts. Who they were before will fade with each passing age and they will become a shadow of themselves."
"That makes no sense." Chief Tenya said, "If he can't feel anything then how was lady Yagura able to get to him? How was she able to rebuild the bond if he was unable to feel anything for anyone?"
"I don't know. Perhaps it has to do with him holding himself down with his abilities." Chief Akuro said, "As i said earlier, Dam heavily restricted himself but with him refusing to stay down and the Dreygar going too far, he decided to let loose and now it is consuming him, and it is consuming him terribly.
Maybe Dam felt affection for the second time, maybe he didn't, but what i know right now is he is a danger to others and himself."
"We did this." Chief Akuro said as he bent his head down, "We the Kenars did this to him. That moment chief Dai was left to die... That moment the Kenar tribe betrayed him and pinned it on Dam, whatever love he had was killed and now... No, i won't let it continue like this.
For the sake of my best friend, i vow to find Dam and save him..."
"By any means necessary." Chief Akuro was said as his iris glowed.
"Chief Akuro..." Chief Tenya said.
