Chapter 55 : Unforgiven

   In Erishkal forest, trails of blood coated the ground and those trails led to an injured Pit who was crawling on the ground as her legs were disabled; being covered with cuts and bruises all over her body, Pit lifts her head and sights Karma standing before her with the remaining eye of hers (Pit) that was opened. Unable to stand or kneel, Pit sits with her knees to the side while breathing heavily as she stared back at Karma's cold gaze.
    "Did you honestly believe you could fight me?" Karma asked, "Like i would ever lose to an unoriginal. One who does nothing but to copy from others; no skill or technique of her own.
    Pathetic. Truly pathetic."
    "Do you not regret any of what you've done?" Pit asked, "Do you have any heart or soul at all?! I thought you were like others, i once thought you had a soul, but i was a fool because i came to understand that what i see when i read yours isn't a soul but an illusion of one!
   The things you've done... To think i could get to you as a friend and change you was so naive of me. You think you are a dragon? A warrior? You are none of those things. What you are is a demon. A crop of garbage with too much power that you don't deserve! And mark my words, you won't get away with this!
   I'll come back and take you down, and if i don't, someone else will do it in my stead!"
     "What are you talking about?" Karma asked, "You honestly thought i considered you my friend? I never considered you as a friend or rival, only my prey to break and destroy, and you confronting me birthed a full reason to break you.
      By the way, why would i have anything to do with a strange lesser who all she does is to smile a lot, copy others and talk to ravens? And who exactly among the other students can stop me?
     I have crushed so many that has stood in my way."
    "So many your twisted mind has gone after." Pit said, "Even if you destroy as many that seem to stand out, the only one you'll face and never defeat is Onak!"
    "You would compare that mindless creature's power to mine?" Karma asked with a cold glare as she crossed her arms, "Typical words for a lesser like you."
     "Remember this failure for the rest of your life..." Karma said as she raised one of her hands, "Faker."
      Karma crosses her fingers and blood gushed out from all of Pit's cuts, leaving her to drop cold on the ground while blood was flowing out of Pit's body excessively.
    Currently at the tournament, the people were disarrayed at the action that took place as Pit laid lifelessly on the ground with smoke flowing from her body.
    "Wha-what in the...!"
    "What the heck just happened?!"
    "The girl, is she alright?!"
    "What in blue heavens just happened?" Lizira asked with widened eyes.
    "The moment Pit turned her back to walk away..." Izaiya said inwardly as he had a recollection of Pit being coated with dark outlines around her body which quickly turned into a beam that completely engulfed Pit and was shot into the air.
    "What the heck is going on?" Izaiya asked.
    "It's time to stop playing games... Sting." Cloud said as he watched Sting stand on his feet and dust himself.
    "Ah. Time to go to the next phase." Sting said with a smile as he stroke his hair, mixing the blood on his forehead with it.
   "Huh?" Chief Miza said in disbelief.
   At that time, Pit coughed out and made efforts to stand on her feet (though her body was trembling in the process).
    "Oh, so you are still going?" Sting asked while smiling as he glanced back at Pit, "Good! Now let us continue."
    "What... The heck just happened?" Pit asked weakly.
    "Oh, you see, what happened to you was a technique i have been practicing with for sometime." Sting said while still smiling, "Gaaruda technique: Korroption. It's a technique where i send tiny pieces of my gaaruda energy into your body and let them build to the point of explosion, though i made it a mild one so i won't kill you."
   "What the hell?" Raen said.
   "How were you...?" Pit asked with a raised brow.
   "Through every attack you dished out on me." Sting said, "Everytime you hit me, held me and through my attacks making contact with you."
   "Huh?" Pit asked in confusion.
    "Think, Pit." Sting said as he tapped the side of his head, "The attack you kicked back at me, the reapers hand and the punch you stopped. In other words, you have been played by me."
    "What?" Reiv said inwardly in confusion.
    Sting immediately bursts out with laughter while clutching his belly.
    "Don't you get it?!" Sting asked with a wild grin, "Every attack you saw, every counter you brought, was planned by me! If the gaaruda is the combination of aura and soul energy manipulation, and you could read the soul, then shouldn't i be able to manipulate the information my soul gives you?
    Initially i was getting impatient with you not using those eyes because i wanted to test out my theory but when you started using them, that's when my plans came to work (though i took a few hits before i could fully understand how to do it)."
   "Come on, think about it." Sting said while smiling with a raised eyebrow, "You being able to see ahead of a second, two seconds and above? That only happened because i let you see what i wanted you to see."
    "You really prepared for me." Pit said.
   "If it makes you feel better, i prepared for everyone in this tournament." Sting replied, "And plus, i did promise Gorn I'd do a better work at the deceiving everyone; all i needed to do was put up a show and i did it!"
    "You took all those hits, for this?" Lizira asked Sting.
    "A small price to pay for victory." Sting replied with a smirk.
   Sting snaps his finger and the korroption  attack takes place again, leading Pit to scream out in pain once more. As the beam had vanished, smoke was oozing out of Pit's body and Pit dropped to her knees and fell flat on her face, bringing many to astonishment.
     "You didn't see that coming, because i chose not to show it to you." Sting said, "This match is over."
     At the audience center, many of them were still amazed with the actions of Sting while some were in shock.
    "That boy is truly nuts." A man said.
    "But he is strong." A woman replied, "I never expected someone like him to be this cunning and strong. He truly is the son of Chief Ezgord."
     "Man, i didn't see this coming." Izaiya said.
     "I don't think anyone did." Kein replied.
     "You knew about this, didn't you?" Rish asked as his eyes moves towards Cloud.
     "No, i had a gut feeling something was wrong but the moment Sting used that korroption attack, i knew he was playing games." Cloud said, "I've been Sting's best friend for some months now, so there is a kind of odd feeling i get when he is planning something."
    "I see." Rish said.
  Meanwhile at the arena, Pit showed some life as she struggled to stand back on her feet while groaning in pain.
    "I usually don't say this, but you should surrender." Sting said, "With your eyes having no use against me, the fight is pointless."
    "Sting, you are an incredible opponent but do you honestly believe that i would give up because i can't use my panora eyes in this round?" Pit asked, "I'll take you on, with or without them."
    "Alright then. Come." Sting said while smiling as he spread his arms apart with his darkened eyes.
     Pit advanced towards Sting to attack but in doing so, she stepped on a part of the ground covered with Sting's dark aura which sets off an explosion from behind that threw her towards Sting and was met with a huge dark fist on her face, thus sending her to slide on her back in a reverse order.
    "Pit, are you insane?! How can you just charge at me like that?!!" Sting asked while grinning wildly.
    Sting's laughter resonated in the arena, causing many to stare with him with a wtf face.
   "What the heck is wrong with him?" A Kenar man asked.
    "Mother, i'm scared." A little boy said as he clutches onto a woman.
    "Don't worry, dear. Your mother won't let anything happen to you." The woman said.
     Pit charged towards Sting with a battle cry to punch him but Sting smiled and stretched forth his hand.
   "Reapers hand." Sting said as his hand was covered with his dark aura.
   Pit found herself covered with Sting's aura and was pulled towards Sting with a powerful force; in the process of being pulled towards Sting, Sting creates a dark swirling orb on his palm and threw it at Pit, whereby creating a dark explosion that threw Pit back and caused her to tumble backwards on the ground.
    Pit hailed in pain as her body was trembling while she made efforts to get back up; at the time that Pit stood back up, she noted Sting smirking at her with a raised brow which made her clench her fists and slam her right foot on the ground.
    "Zota: Kaiyuzima!" Pit said as she sent four blue humongous crescent attacks towards Sting that quickly multiplied into a crescent myriad.
    "Gaaruda technique: Flashing star." Sting said as he stretched forth his index finger while charging a concentrated dark energy.
      Sting fired the attack from his finger at the huge crescent myriad which swiftly pierced through and left a small cut on Pit's right cheek.
    "Wait for it." Sting said with a smile, "Now."
     Pit started reacting to numerous dark twinkles on her body that made her cough out blood and fall on her knees.
    "I can't believe it...!" Lizira said, "Sting is barely even trying against Pit! The dark reaper himself is holding this match at the palm of his hands!! What will Pit do now?!"
    "Impressive." Chief Akuro said, "Your son is both strong and cunning, Chief Ezgord."
     "Yes, indeed. I couldn't even tell he was planning something all along." Chief Tenya said.
     "He is my son. He obviously got them from me." Chief Ezgord said while smiling.
     A sound of explosion resonated in the field along with Pit's groans of pain.
    "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Sting's voice sounded.
   Immediately, two sounds of explosions resonated in the field.
   "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Sting's voice sounded again.
   Three sounds of explosions immediately took place in the field, again.
    "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Sting's voice sounded again.
    Four sounds.
   "I'm sorry!"
    Five sounds.
   "I'm so-!"
    At that moment, numerous sounds of explosions relentlessly echoed in the arena.
    "Woohoo!!!" Sting's voice sounded.
     The eyes of the three major tribe Chiefs moved to Ezgord while Ezgord stared down at the arena.
    "He didn't get that from me." Chief Ezgord said.
   Back at the arena, Pit laid on the ground while creaking in pain and as she opens her eyes, she sees Sting hovering over her with a dark outline around his body and a wide grin as his eyes were completely glowing while his head and half of his upper body were overshadowed.
    "Pit..." Idjra said.
    "This is like the second time I'm seeing Pit being beaten to this extent." Reiv said.
    "No, not that extent." Izaiya said, "This beating doesn't even measure up to what Karma gave her. However, even though Pit has gotten stronger than she was before, without those eyes of hers, there isn't much she can do against Sting."
     "He is just too strong." Izaiya said as Sting was staring at the exhausted Pit who happened to be standing on her feet.
     "So, do you understand the picture, now?" Sting asked, "You are a very powerful opponent but the main reason you are in this situation is not just because of how strong i am but because you have been too reliant on those eyes of yours in a fight and i was able to use it against you. "
  "I don't want to turn this into a Gorn version two match." Sting said as he stretched forth his palm towards Pit and creates a concentrated orb, "So I'm going to say this one more time: Surrender."
     "I made a promise to my grandfather that i will become a pilgrim and i made a promise to myself that I'll enter this tournament and get my revenge on Karma." Pit said, "I have no intention of surrendering anytime soon."
     "You saw what she did to Dam." Sting said, "Even though, Dam somewhat had the last laugh but still, i never imagined for once that i would see him beaten to that level. So tell me, if she could beat up someone as strong as Dam like that, what makes you think you stand a chance?"
    "Well, i have to!" Pit snapped, "I have to beat her!"
   "It's the only way i will rest." Pit said as she bent her head.
   "There is a difference between 'having to' and 'being able to' and with all due respect, as you are right now, if you fight Karma, you will lose and you will lose badly." Sting said, "However, this grudge of yours seems to go beyond your fight with her. Tell me, what exactly did she do that made you hate her this much?"
    Pit remains mute and was staring at Sting with her bland demeanor.
   "Hey, come on. At least let me know." Sting said while smiling, "If you're so hellbent on taking her down, there has to be a big reason, right?"
    Pit stared silently at Sting for a moment and sighed.
    "Do you remember task 27?" Pit asked.
    "You mean the task where you and Karma were the only ones that came back alive out of the eight?" Sting asked.
     "There is more to what happened." Pit said, "When we were sent to retrieve the artifact, we were given a map to avoid the white minotaur Molax in order to come back safely but little did we know that Molax had changed directions."
     A flashback takes place in a forest as Pit was seating on the ground while clutching her injured side with her bloodstained hands. Pit lifts her head and gazed at a dead Molax sitting on the ground and leaning  against a bloodstained rock wall; glancing at her sides, Pit takes notice of six of her comrades corpses laying on the ground which made her bend her head in sadness.
   "So you really pulled it off." A feminine voice said.
    Pit lifts her head and sees Karma standing in front of her with both arms crossed.
    "Where were you?" Pit asked, "We were in dire need of each other against Molax but you weren't there. Where were you?"
    "It's not my fault you morons couldn't tell the danger ahead." Karma replied.
    "Wait, you knew?" Pit asked in shock, "You knew and you said nothing?"
    "It's not my obligations to warn you." Karma replied.
    "Not your obligations....?" Pit asked with widened eyes as tears were flowing out, "WE ARE A TEAM! AND AS TEAMMATES WE PUT OUR TRUST AND LIVES IN EACH OTHERS HANDS!! EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T WARN US, YOU COULD HAVE AT LEAST HELPED US! You could have at least..."
     Pit started sobbing but Karma was glaring at her coldly .
    "Crying for the weak? How pathetic." Karma said, "You are soft. Really soft."
      Hearing those words from Karma's mouth, Pit lifts her head in shock and horror. After recalling that incident, the people's eyes widened with disbelief.
    "I lost consciousness because of the blood loss from my fight with Molax." Pit said, "When i woke up, i found myself in the academy's infirmary and learnt that it was two weeks i have been there. I was surprised to learn that Karma was the one that brought me there but i later learnt in our fight that she kept me alive so that she'll have the entertainment of breaking me.
     I tried my best to get to her as her friend... As her partner."
     "Partner?" Cloud asked in a surprised manner.
     "Yes, Pit was Karma's first partner." Rish replied, "And as partners, you get to share the same room. Despite the friendship you and Sting shares, the both of you aren't partners, correct?"
   "Correct." Cloud said, "I don't have a partner and Sting doesn't as well."
   "What a shame." Rish said.
    "I once thought it was a thing of honor to be acknowledged as her rival but i stopped caring about that." Pit said to Sting, "Even though we were partners, i found myself unable to stay in the same room with her after what she had done. I found myself starting to dislike her and after our fight, my dislike for her grew into hatred.
     I don't care how strong she is. I don't care how much power she possesses. I am going to face her in this tournament and make her pay for all she has done and nothing is going to stop me."
   Done with explaining herself, Pit faced the ground and sighed once again.
    "You know in all these, there is one person i feel so sorry and frightened for and it is her current partner, Killer bee."
   At the right side of the Chiefs center, Chief Tenya tightly clenched her fist and Chief Miza took notice of it.
   "She is making the same mistake i once made and it is not going to end well for her." Pit said, "Now you know my story, tell me, what do you plan on doing next?"
    "Do you plan on getting in my way, or are you going to let me get my revenge?" Pit asked as she lifts her head to look at Sting.
