Chapter 57: Cutthroat battle

19 4 7

In an unknown terrain filled with skeletons laying on the ground, a Graundar man in a navy blue cloak took notice of a vulture pecking an eyeball that resided in a skull partly covered in the flesh of a man. The Graundar man pulled down his hood, turning out to be Rikon and as Rikon was looking around, Rikon hears a cracking sound on the ground which turned out to be a skull he accidentally stepped on.
"Of all the places to meet, it had to be here?" Rikon asked inwardly, "Talk about awkward. Still though, that energy i was feeling when i was being called and directed, it didn't feel like a human. What was it and why was i called?
So strong and powerful... Almost like it was compelling me to come against my will. This is a trap, no doubt about it but i've never been one to run from a fight."
As Rikon stood patiently, he immediately felt a strong presence that made his irises glow.
"So, you've finally arrived." A feminine voice said.
Rikon lifts his head and sights a female sitting on a cliff with a smile, having a grey skin with 3 horns, long white hair, black scleras and red irises; the woman was also dressed in a sleeveless dark blue attire that exposes her cleavages and her belly while wearing a black thigh high open-toe stockings and black high arm warmers.
As Rikon was staring at her, he takes notice of two Reptorixs standing behind him; one a green skinned Reptorix dressed in a long black vest and blue trousers and the other a red skinned dressed in a long blue vest and black trousers.
"Ah, don't worry." The grey woman said, "They won't attack unless it is necessary."
"Is that so?" Rikon asked as he tilted his head back at her, "Tell me something, when you summoned me here, i felt a force compelling me to obey, a mind control kan ability like Orloc the orc."
"Mind control?" The grey woman asked while smirking with a raised brow, "No. That is not my kan ability. What you felt was my overwhelming strength compelling you to obey when i used kan communication of the heart to summon you."
"Overwhelming strength? What is she talking about?" Rikon asked within himself, "Is she trying to say she can force people against their will not by seizing control of their minds but by them feeling her power? That doesn't make any sense and what's more is that it wasn't even her kan ability. What kind of monster is she?"
"Our master has need of you." The grey woman said, "He has found your ability quite useful and he would like you to give him your servitude."
"Your master?" Rikon asked, "Who is your master? Who are you and why should i serve him?"
"I am Sethra, the lady of conquest and like i said, my master has need of your service towards him." Sethra answered, "Pledge your allegiance to my master and bend the knee."
"My allegiance belongs to Agaroth, my family and my friends." Rikon replied with a stern look.
"Swear allegiance or die." Sethra said, "Either way you can still serve our master, even in death."
"How about i say no to all of them?" Rikon asked while discharging a blue aura.
"Hoh?" Sethra said with her head slightly bent sideways, "Do you think you can beat me, human?"
As Rikon was emitting his aura, the Reptorixs behind Rikon marvelled at his power.
"This pressure... Is this the power of Rikon?" The green skin Reptorix asked inwardly, "Is this power of the man that killed Kodowok and 736 minotaurs by himself?
Tales also have it that he killed an elder forest wolf by himself and was the first ever to survive a fight with Zas the great butcher but he lost a lot of power in doing so. However, will the power he currently has be enough to fight lady Sethra?"
    "Beat him down." Sethra said.
The Reptorixs charged towards Rikon but Rikon's aura explodes and spread across the land, swiftly turning the entire terrain into a wasteland. As a small section of the dusts had cleared, Rikon's appearance had changed to that of a greyish blue rock-like body, accompanied with a rock-like high collar and blue glowing patterned cracks round his body. His hair, hands and feet were glowing blue and blue lava was dripping from his hands and each of his footsteps were slightly softening the ground.
Just as the dusts had completed cleared, Sethra stood unharmed by what happened and was staring at Rikon with an unamused expression while having her arms crossed.
"So you have chosen death? What a waste." Sethra said.
"The only one that will die here is you!" Rikon said as he charged towards Sethra.
Rikon and Sethra clashed fists and the might of their clash created a powerful wave that moved beyond the wasteland towards different districts, killing many creatures in the act.
Back at the Shard Court at the audience stand, Izaiya, Kein, Obaru and Reiv were discussing with each other.
"The second half is over and the semifinals will soon begin." Reiv said with a smile.
"Yeah, just like Lizira said." Kein said, "I can't wait to see how this will all end."
     "Me too." Obaru said.
"These three powerhouses will soon collide and only one shall stand at the top." Izaiya said within himself with his finger placed on his chin, "But the question is 'Who' among them will do it? Is it the monster? The dragon? Or the dark reaper? That i cannot wager.
The only thing i can do right now is to sit back and watch."
Meanwhile as Sting was walking alone in the halls, he suddenly paused and smirks while facing the ceiling.
"How long are you going to keep staring at me like that?" Sting asked, "You're making me nervous, you know."
Karma walks out of the shadows with her arms crossed and stared at Sting with her usual plain expression.
"Do you need something? I doubt you are here for a hug." Sting said as he glanced at Karma.
"You defeated the blue-eyed faker, as expected of you." Karma said, "You are worthy, indeed."
    "Where is Bee?" Sting asked.
"She walked out after we had an argument of me taking things too far." Karma replied with her eyes closed and her arms still crossed, "Poor girl doesn't seem to understand how things are done when dealing with an opponent. Quite the softie, huh."
"You know, Bee is a good person." Sting said, "Upbeat, kind-hearted, brave, strong and selfless. Always willing to see the best in her friends even if they are a terrible mess and in all that, it just makes her naive.
Tell me, how long will it take before you turn on her?"
"Hm?" Karma said as she opened her eyes.
"A day? Two days? A week? A month? Or maybe a year or two?" Sting asked with a raised brow, "After all, Pit was your friend and partner and she too tried to see the best in you until you broke her, so it just kind of builds the curiosity."
"Think what you will, i don't care." Karma said.
"Oh, you should care." Sting replied while smiling, "You see a bounty has been placed on a head... 'Your' head and i've decided to take it and my reward...
"Is getting to see your oversized ego crumble." Sting said with a dark smirk as his eyes darkened.
"Big words." Karma said, "I've met people who said the same thing but in the end, they fell into the line; all of them turned out to be nothing but over-hyped weaklings.  Not a single one stood a chance against me and i doubt any ever will."
"I have a question for you." Sting said, "What happens when the unstoppable force meets the immovable object?"
"They either pass through each other or one gets to live up to it's name." Karma answered.
"Or there is no such thing." Sting said while smiling smugly with a raised brow.
Hearing Sting's words,Karma stared at him in confusion.
"There is no such thing as an unstoppable force or immovable object, they are just simply too strong." Sting said, "Neither is there anything that is unbreakable. You just need the right person, the right way and the right tool to do it ... Just like you.
You see, for too long, you've carried yourself like an unstoppable force and many that witnessed your power thought so as well. You are a powerful force to deal with but you are far from unstoppable and that's why i will defeat you."
"This confidence.... I will truly enjoy breaking it." Karma said as she slightly grinned.
"The feeling is mutual." Sting said as he appeared standing back to back with Karma which made her irises glow in alarm, "For every taste of despair you have given others, i'll make sure you drink yours by a bucket full and trust me..."
"It's really going to hurt." Sting said with a deepened voice as his darkened eyes rolls back at Karma while smiling.
Karma's glowing irises moves back at Sting and Sting started walking away while still smiling.
"Good luck to you. You'll need it." Sting said, "Oh, and 'Pit' sends her regards."
As Sting had left, Karma sights a man from afar, staring at her with widened eyes while shaking tremendously.
"What the hell did i just witness?" The man asked within himself.
Meanwhile in one of the medical rooms, Schroeder walks in and finds Ernia of the Tenplar tribe sitting on a chair while watching over Arxion of Kenar tribe who happened to be laying on the bed asleep and injured.
      "How is he?" Schroeder asked.
"He's doing fine." Ernia answered, "The healers said his wounds aren't fatal so he'll definitely survive."
"It's good to hear." Schroeder said.
"Still, what was that thing that attacked us and why did it leave us alive?" Ernia asked.
"It was a hiveling." Schroeder answered, "And there are many of them in this court."
"Wait, hivelings?! Here?!" Ernia asked in shock, "You mean the evolved insectoids are here?!!"
"You've heard about them?" Schroeder asked.
"Schroeder, this is terrible news!" Ernia said, "We need to alert the others quick! Zotek! The Chiefs! Everyone!"
"Zotek knows of this." Schroeder said.
        "And?" Ernia asked.
"He... We have decided that it's best to take them down ourselves without involving the Chiefs." Schroeder answered.
       "What?" Ernia asked in confusion.
"If we involve the Chiefs, then the tournament will be cancelled and i can't have that on my conscience, considering the amount of students that have died in trainings and tasks." Schroeder said, "I... Can't..."
"Schroeder...." Ernia said softly, "But at least Zotek can sense their energies, so it won't be much work, right?"
"Actually, he can't..." Schroeder replied, "For some reason, he can't sense them so we are working as hard as we can to stop them all."
Learning this from Schroeder, Ernia's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Zotek can't...  And you're... ARE YOU TWO STUPID?!!!" Ernia asked, "Are you trying to get everyone killed?!! Zotek can't sense them but you don't want to involve the Chiefs and the others because you fear the tournament getting cancelled?!! Who cares if the tournament is cancelled?!! We are talking about lives here! LIVES!!"
"I knew it." A masculine voice weakly said, prompting Schroeder and Ernia to turn and see the person to be Arxion.
      "Arxion, you're awake." Schroeder said.
"Of course, i am." Arxion replied with a stern look as he sat up on his bed, "With the way Ernia was shouting, why won't i wake up?"
"What did you know, Arxion?" Ernia asked.
"I knew these two were crazy, Schroeder and Zotek, especially Zotek." Arxion replied as he glanced at Schroeder with a glare, "You knew about the hivelings invading here but you want to keep it a secret? Well, f**k you! F**k Zotek!
I always knew Leorona was the only one that was sane out of the four of you! And as for Zotek, i always knew his emotionless face was just a facade to hide his insanity. I wager when no one is looking, he would stuff his pipe with ruumba leaves and go somewhere no one could catch him and smoke the hell out of them!
The effect of those leaves lasts for seven days and nights!"
"Wait, how do you know it lasts for seven days and nights?" Ernia asked with a raised brow.
"Yeah, this is the first time i'm even hearing about the ruumba leaves." Schroeder said.
At that moment, Arxion started sweating while scratching his head nervously.
"Well, you see i had a uh... Cousin, i mean brother that uh..."
As Arxion was nervously trying to explain himself, Schroeder and Ernia stared at him with a blank face and their arms crossed.
"The point is that you two are trying to endanger everyone and i won't allow it!" Arxion angrily said as he points said as Schroeder with his irises glowing, "If you are trying to get everyone killed, i will kill you first!!!"
Arxion suddenly coughed out blood as he was shouting, catching Schroeder and Ernia off guard.
"Hey, easy!" Ernia said as she placed her hands on Arxion's shoulder, "You haven't fully recovered. Go back to sleep."
"No! If these bastards want a piece of me, then i'll give it to the-!"
"Rest." Ernia said with an echoing voice and glowing irises as she placed one of her hands on Arxion's forehead.
Arxion immediately fell fast asleep on the bed and Ernia sighed.
"Sometimes i just tend to forget how useful your ability is." Schroeder said.
"My kan ability of peacemaker allows me to put one's mind at ease to the point they fall asleep." Ernia said while staring at Arxion, "Schroeder, i thought you were smarter than this. I always thought that if great danger should arise, you'll be one of the people i will be able to count on.
What do you honestly think you are doing?"
"Ernia, i..." Schroeder said as he turned his face away.
"You don't want the tournament to get cancelled after everything that has happened." Ernia said as she stood on her feet and walked towards Schroeder, "After all the deaths, tears and pain we've watched the students go through. Your reason isn't hard to understand but you should consider the part that many lives here are at stake, not just the lives in the Shard Court but the whole of Keigra as well.
You trust Zotek to help you take them down but the thing is i don't trust Zotek. I trust his power in combat but when it comes to giving out judgement, he is dark and hard to read; he always has an ulterior motive behind everything he does and people like that makes me uncomfortable.
Right now I'd like to go by myself to alert everyone about the situation but i need to watch over Arxion in order to make sure he doesn't get attacked and to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid. He always tends to let his anger get the best of him, so i am trusting you to do what i am unable to do at the moment and to make the right decision.
So please, Schroeder, please ... Do the right thing and save everyone."
Schroeder stared at Ernia for a moment and nods his head which made her smile.
"Thank you." Ernia said, "You really are a good man."
As soon as Schroeder left the door, Ernia closed her eyes and smiled again.
"Zera, you really are lucky to have someone like him." Ernia said within herself.
Two hands swiftly grabs hold of Ernia's head from behind and snaps her neck, leaving her to drop dead on the ground. At the time Ernia laid dead on the ground, Arxion was standing on his feet while staring down at her corpse and during the time he was staring down at her, Arxion swiftly lifts his eyes and gives a menacing smile along with his irises glowing.
