The next morning was rare, as no one woke her up or bothered her. She was able to enjoy her smokes and coffee in peace, and then when that was done, she was able to shower, clean up her apartment and get some homework done. It was a strange feeling, but she enjoyed the quiet. Around lunchtime though, that peace was shattered when Robby texted her.
Do you want to go to the zoo with me?
The zoo? That's random.
Well, I'm meeting some friends there, thought you might want to join. Also, I need to talk to you about something.
Alright, sure. Be there in 15.
Great. See you soon.
Ivy put her microwave meal back in the freezer and slipped on her shoes. Grabbing her purse and keys, she lazily trudged out to her truck, wondering what the hell Robby actually wanted.
When she got to the zoo, she expected to meet Robby at the front gate, but he surprised her by walking up to the truck. She hopped out to join him, a confused look on her face. He looked back to her, his features tired and annoyed.
"Did something happen?" she asked.
"Yeah." He answered plainly, "Why didn't you tell me that Sam and Miguel are back together?"
"Because they're not?" Ivy rose her brow.
"Is that why I walked in on them inches from kissing?" Robby crossed his arms.
"Okay, I'm going to need some more context here, cause I'm at a loss right now." Ivy shook her head, "The three of us went to accompany our Sensei's yesterday to fight the council so that they'd reinstate the All-Valley. After we won our case, we all went our separate ways."
"I went to Miyagi-Do to try and apologize to Mr. LaRusso, but instead I walked in on those two having a moment. They looked together to me." Robby explained.
"Yeah, no. They barely started speaking to each other again, so I highly doubt they just up and got back together." Ivy defended them before she narrowed her eyes at Robby, "But if there is something going on between them that I missed, then you'd better back off. I don't care if it pisses you off, Sam and Miguel have always belonged together."
"That's a pretty fucked up thing to say. She didn't even formally break up with me." Robby scoffed.
"Like she had to? You ran away from everything. But if it's bothering you that much then go take it up with her. Why are you bitching at me about it?" Ivy shrugged.
"I just wanted to know if you were holding back anything when you caught me up." Robby shrugged back.
"No. I told you everything I knew." She shook her head angerly, "Are we going to the zoo or what? I didn't come here to argue about stupid shit."
"Yeah, come on." Robby motioned to her, "My friends are meeting me in the back."
Robby started walking, and Ivy followed him to the back area that was lined by a small forest. Neither of them said anything as they walked, but eventually Ivy spoke up, the awkwardness getting to her.
"So, did you find a place to stay?" she asked.
"Yeah, actually I did." He gave her a small smile.
"Oh, that's great! Where-"
Ivy stopped dead in her tracks, her heart jumping into her throat as she recognized the group of friends Robby had brought her to meet. In front of a chain link fence a few feet ahead of them was Hawk, Tory and Kyler. When they noticed her, their cool expressions quickly faded. Kyler looked uncomfortable, Hawk was furious, and Tory looked downright terrified.
