Chapter Thirty-Four

Ivy awoke the next morning ready to kick some ass. Grabbing her karate bag, she met Miguel by the truck, and they hopped in.

"Where's Hawk?" Miguel quipped as she started up the truck.

"His mom wants him home, sometimes." She smirked before driving off.

At the Dojo, they joined the other cobras inside, only to notice that everyone was still in their street clothes, including Kreese, who was waiting up front with his arms crossed. Ivy moved to Eli and gave him a kiss.

"What's going on?" she asked.

"We're going somewhere special today." He shrugged, shoving his hand into her back pocket to hold her while they waited.

Johnny entered a moment later in his street clothes too, and Miguel walked over to him to talk to him as he made his way towards the back. They exchanged some words that Ivy couldn't hear, and then Johnny went to the back office like he usually did before class. Ivy noticed that he was starting to look better on the outside, but she was sure the inside was a whole different story. Kreese joined Johnny in the office, and the cobras were left waiting again, though it wasn't long.

"Everybody get your Gi's on, training starts in five minutes!" Johnny ordered as he reappeared.

The cobras exchanged a few looks, moving to Johnny in confusion. Johnny glanced over them like he missed something.

"Yeah, what's wrong?" he asked.

"Nothing's wrong." Miguel shook his head, "I just thought we were going to the woods for special training today."

Johnny looked back at Kreese, who gave him an unhelpful shrug.

"What's happening in the woods?" Johnny asked Miguel.

"Well, I thought it was a good time to separate the men from the boys." Kreese stepped forward to explain, "And, the girls too I suppose."

"Oh yeah?" Johnny turned to him, not quite understanding.

"Coyote Creek." Kreese clarified, and Johnny rolled his eyes in exasperation.

"I'm not sure they're ready for that." Johnny mumbled.

"There's only one way to find out." Kreese urged.

"We're ready, Sensei." Eli nodded enthusiastically, "We want to prove ourselves."

"It's up to Sensei Lawrence." Kreese said as Johnny looked over the students with worried eyes, "If he says it's okay, then and only then is it okay."

The students looked back at Johnny to await his answer, and Ivy shifted uncomfortably in Eli's arms, not knowing how she felt about going along with something Kreese wanted to do. Eventually, Johnny gave in.

"Alright, what are you waiting for? Let's go." He shrugged, "Coyote Creek. Pile up so we can take the least number of vehicles possible."

Everyone grabbed their things and moved outside. Since Eli had come separately, they weren't able to ride together, so Ivy was tasked with driving Miguel, Tory and Bert to the woods. They all got into the truck, and Ivy laughed as Bert put forth all his effort to get into the passenger seat. She looked to Miguel and Tory, who were holding hands in the back.

"Oh come on now. I can't drive with Bert in the front." She chuckled, "I don't have the proper car seat, that's illegal."

"Oh, very funny." Bert rolled his eyes as they all laughed.
