Miguel went into the office to talk to Johnny when he was done with his push-ups, and Eli fell into line with Ivy to work on drills. There was an extra huff with each of his movements, making the exhaustion from the punishment audible. Ivy kept quiet, knowing he was already too pissed off.
"The fuck is his problem?" Eli grunted through punches.
"I don't know." Ivy kept punching, "But he's seemed pretty sad since the tournament."
"What does he have to be sad about?" Eli hissed as they switched positions to kick, "We won."
"He had this look in his eyes when you and Miguel were fighting." Ivy stabilized herself to kick higher, "I think he's struggling with what is right and what he was taught."
"The enemy doesn't care what's right." Eli kicked hard to let out some aggression.
"Maybe he wants us to be better than the enemy." She looked to him.
Eli gave her a thoughtful glance before he went back to angerly pushing through the drills.
Miguel came out of the office just as they finished the session, looking equally sad and relieved. He joined Ivy and Eli with a sigh.
"Everything alright?" Ivy asked.
"Yeah, we had a decent talk." Miguel nodded.
"So what's his deal?" Eli growled.
"Basically he wants this Cobra Kai to be better than the Cobra Kai he joined, which, I understand." Miguel explained.
"Told you." Ivy looked to Eli.
"Then he should have said something before the tournament instead of punishing us today!" Eli snapped.
"Yeah, but it's called a struggle for a reason." Ivy shrugged, finding it hard to be mad at Johnny.
"Whatever." Eli shook his head, "Let's get out of here."
"Alright." Miguel moved with a nod, but stopped once he saw that Ivy wasn't following, "You coming?"
"I have to talk to Sensei about something too. I'll catch up with you guys later." Ivy mumbled.
"Okay, text me." Miguel said with a wave as he and Eli left the Dojo.
Ivy changed back into her street clothes and then waited for the Dojo to be completely empty before she went into the office. Johnny had changed into his normal clothes too and was shuffling through some papers at his desk. Ivy tapped her knuckle lightly on the door frame.
"Sensei?"
"What?" he looked up, "Oh, Miss Taylor, what do you need?"
"I wanted to talk to you...check in on things." Ivy stepped forward.
"As much as I'd love to chat, I'm a little busy right now." Johnny looked back to his papers, "I'm sure you've noticed the damage. I need to go to the hardware store."
"Can I come?" she asked, not wanting to skip this talk, "I used to do this stuff with my dad. I can help."
Johnny looked to her with a sigh as he dropped the papers to his desk. He hesitated before speaking.
"Yeah, I guess." He nodded and stood, "Get in the car."
"Thanks, Sensei." She smiled.
