Chapter Sixty-One

PART FOUR/SEASON FOUR

"Are you ready?" Daniel asked.

"Let's begin!" Johnny shouted.

Their enthusiasm was inspiring, but also confusing. The Miyagi-Dos and Eagle Fangs shared awkward glances. They were ready, that was a given, but for what exactly, they weren't quite sure. Dimitri raised a shaky hand.

"Um, begin what...exactly?" he asked timidly.

Johnny looked to Daniel, who looked just as lost as he was. It was clear that they agreed to the merger, but not on how to execute the blending of the Dojos.

"Begin...a new era!" Daniel took over confidently, "Many of us used to be enemies, but rivalries don't need to last forever. The All-Valley Tournament is just a few months away, and this year, the stakes are higher than they've ever been. We know that Cobra Kai is going to use every dirty trick in the book. There's only one way we're going to be able to beat them-"

"By kicking their asses so hard, they shit themselves!" Johnny jumped in aggressively, causing Daniel's mouth to gape, "We gotta take things to the next level! We're going to teach you an aggression stronger than Cobra Kai could throw at us. They strike first, we'll pre-strike!"

"Okay!" Daniel tried to stop him, "We're getting ahead of ourselves, we're going to respond to what they do."

"Eagles do not respond!" Johnny countered, "They swoop down and take whatever they want! And that's what we're gonna do, take back the Valley!"

"Take it back in a measured, organized approach-" Daniel tried again.

"We bite first!" Johnny shouted louder as the kid's gazes volleyed between him and Daniel, who let out a sigh.

"Okay, let's just warm up with some simple exercises." Daniel gave Johnny a look.

"Alright, line up!" Johnny bellowed.

The students stayed in pairs, Ivy with Eli and Dimitri, and they all moved into rows to await the instruction of their Sensei's.

"Just breathe and follow me." Daniel instructed and got into a stance, which the Miyagi-Dos followed.

"Fighting positions!" Johnny commanded, and the Eagle Fangs obeyed, "Right leg back, front kick, ready? HIYA!"

All the Eagles kicked out swiftly, knocking down the Miyagi-Dos that were warming up in front of them. The Miyagi-Dos grunted as the Eagle Fangs gasped.

"Oh shit, dude, I'm sorry!" Mitch moved to Nathan.

Nathan let out a groan from being kicked in the back, and Daniel looked appalled at Johnny, who returned his look with an apologetic shrug.

"Maybe we should forgo the lines..." Johnny mumbled and looked away.

"Yeah, maybe." Daniel nodded with a groan.

They motioned with their heads to a different part of the outside Dojo, and the students moved with them reluctantly.

Johnny and Daniel set up matches between their students to show off their styles to the other Dojo. Mitch and Bert went first, using their cutthroat moves to beat at each other. They were hitting each other pretty hard, so Daniel stepped in to separate them.

"Hey, hey, hey! You're just swinging at each other!" he shouted and turned to Johnny, "Don't you teach any defense?"

"The best defense is more offense." Mitch smirked and then grunted as Bert kicked him hard in the side.
