Eli woke up to her crying, and since she was unable to speak, she handed him her phone so he could read the message. He let out a sad sigh, put the phone on the bed, and wrapped his arms around her from behind to comfort her. She let herself cry for a little longer, her heart aching for Johnny, and then sucked it up, knowing that crying wouldn't do much for him.
"We should go over there." She mumbled to Eli, "Give him our condolences."
"Yeah." Eli nodded, his chin resting on her shoulder.
They moved together, taking the sheets and blankets off of the bed to put them in the wash. They then took a silent shower, not knowing what to say. After they toweled off and dressed, Ivy helped Eli with his mohawk, and then she made her way into the kitchen. Opening the drawer next to the fridge, she pulled out two Hershey bars and handed on to Eli.
"What's this for?" he rose his eyebrow.
"For Sensei. You'll understand in a moment." She said quietly.
With a nod, he kissed her gently, and they headed off to Johnny's apartment.
Johnny looked as horrible as she thought he would when he answered the door. His clothes and hair were disheveled, his eyes tired and red, and he absolutely reeked of alcohol.
"What's up?" he slurred, leaning into the doorway to keep his balance.
"We came to give our condolences, Sensei. And to see how you were doing." Ivy answered gently and held out the chocolate bar to him. Eli followed suit.
"Thanks, guys." He mumbled, taking the candy from them, "But I don't think chocolate is going to fix this one."
"Do you want to talk about it?" Ivy offered.
"Sure, why not!" Johnny staggered as he moved to let them in, "Might do you some good to learn about your Cobra Kai forefathers!"
Eli and Ivy moved carefully over to the couch, finding it hard to walk through the beer cans that were thrown everywhere before they sat down. Johnny moved to the fridge for more beers and set them on the coffee table before he fell into his recliner. He grabbed one of the beers, chugged it down, and then tossed it across the room with a groan.
"Sensei, I know you're sad, but maybe it's time to take it easy on the beer." Ivy suggested, looking around at the mess.
"I'm not sad, I'm celebrating his life!" Johnny tripped over his words, "Tommy was a great guy, this is what he would have wanted!"
"Wanna tell us about him?" Eli asked in an attempt to distract him from the beer.
"He was one of my best friends. It was just me, Dutch, Bobby, Jimmy and Tommy. We were Cobra Kai." Johnny smiled, but Ivy could see tears coming to his eyes, "He was so smart, so, so smart, but his mouth got him into trouble a lot. Loud little asshole always had something to say. Kind of like that Dimitri kid, but Tommy wasn't a pussy. You know what he said to me last night, Ivy?"
It was clear he had addressed her, but he hand leaned back into his chair to look at the ceiling as he spoke.
"What did he tell you?" Ivy played along.
"He told me that the only reason he joined Cobra Kai was to impress Ally. He had a huge crush on her for a long time, but he didn't have the balls to make a move. This was before we were friends, and I was a bastard in his eyes because I struck first and went for Ally." Johnny chuckled.
