My Destination, My Bondita

30 - The Energy of Her

Anirudh was shocked that Bondita even considered such a possibility. He looked away from her, feeling himself break out into a sweat. 

"Bondita focus on your studies," was all he said nervously. 

He went and got a book from the side and glanced at her as she pouted. 

How could he tell his responsibility that she could choose him when she was older? How could he tell her that he loved someone else? How could he reveal to her the truth behind their marriage and why it wasn't so simple? 

Anirudh Roy Choudhary still had a lot to deal with before he could even consider such a possibility. 

"But Pati Babu..." Bondita insisted, walking over to him. 

"Bondita what did I say?!" he bellowed now. 

She gulped and nodded. 

"In the next test, if you don't get high marks, then I'm going to be very disappointed," he yelled. 

"I will get high marks Pati Babu! I will study hard!" she told him, feeling her heart drop at the possibility of him getting disappointed with her. 

"And no more being extra friendly with that Vikram! If I find out he's still hitting on you, I will speak to his parents!" Anirudh told her, making her frown. 

"Extra friendly? Hitting on me?" she asked. "What does that mean?"

"She doesn't even know this and she is out to love," Anirudh muttered under his breath sarcastically. 

"Huh?" Bondita asked.

"Just study," Anirudh ordered, deciding that he would speak to Vikram himself. 

Enough was enough! 

That evening, as she was studying -- and putting all her focus in it this time, Bondita felt a sensation hit her. 

"Pati Babu!" she squeaked, looking up at him, as he was reading his book. 

"Hmm?" he asked, looking at her. "Do you need help?"

"Bathroom!" she told him. 

"Okay," he agreed, and got up to take her to the bathroom he built for her behind the hut. 

When she confirmed that it was what she thought, she peeped outside of the bathroom and whispered, "Pati Babu, I got my period." 

Anirudh's eyes widened and he whispered back to her, "Let me bring you your pads." 

She nodded. 

He ran inside and got the pads that he made for her. When he custom made them for her a few months ago, he made sure to choose the material that had the best absorption, while also feeling soft and comfortable for her. 

When he brought a pad  to her, she quickly took it back inside with her. When she came out, she glanced at him with a smile.

Her Pati Babu was so caring. 

"Are you okay Bondita?" he asked her softly. 

She nodded and took his hand happily. 

She hadn't gotten her period ever since before they moved into the hut. Her Pati Babu had explained to her that usually in the beginning, the periods could be irregular, so it was no surprise that it had come late. 

They went back to the hut and Bondita continued to study, Anirudh looking at her with a worried expression every so often, trying to see if she needed anything.
