A/N: Title is from the song - Sad Song by We The Kings
"What did I say Bondita?" Anirudh asked about her dream, as she began to hesitate.
"You said..." she said, sounding nervous.
If she told him that he said I love you to her, then would they go back to a year ago?
One year ago, she had thrown herself at him and demanded his love. One year ago, she had torn herself apart just so that she could be loved by him. Instead of giving her his love, he had shown her his dark side. He had pushed her away from him, so she could learn to be self-sufficient and independent.
Although she had become everything that he wanted and was on the path to becoming more, Bondita didn't want to pressure him like she did a year ago.
Bondita knew her Pati Babu loved her. His every action screamed of this.
But Bondita didn't want to throw her love at him. She didn't want to pressure him. She didn't want to hurt him, or throw him in any kind of guilt. She didn't know whether he even knew he loved her. But Bondita knew. She knew her Pati Babu so well, that the emotions going on inside him, she could feel so deeply, like they were her own.
"Nothing," Bondita mumbled.
"Nothing?" Anirudh asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Pati Babu, we have to clean this fast, or it will be hard to clean," she informed. "I'll be back. Give me your pants when I return."
Then she left the room to change her saree and find soap and water to clean the bloodied sheets.
Anirudh watched her go with awe, wondering what had happened all of a sudden. The morning surprise had lead to his Bondita hiding something from him.
What did she dream about that she wasn't able to tell him?
He quickly went and changed his pants before Bondita came back. As he was changing, he felt his face turn pink when he recalled that she tried to take him out of the pants in front of her just now.
"Bondita," he said, with a small smile, shaking his head. "Don't you realize what you do sometimes?"
He laughed.
"How can you? It's not like you know what you are doing. It's all very innocent," he said to himself, as he changed. "And I want this beautiful innocence of yours to stay forever."
He continued to blush all the way until Bondita got back with soap and a bucket of water. When she returned to the room, she started to take off his bedsheets.
"Bondita, let me," he urged, "I don't want you to do any of this work."
"Pati Babu, please," she demanded.
"Okay, how about we split the work then? Remember what you told me when we were living in our hut?" he asked her.
"That a Pati and a Patni share the work?" she asked him.
"Yes," Anirudh said with a smile, taking the bedsheet from her.
"But Pati Babu, it's got my blood on it," Bondita told him, frowning.
"Bondita, if you can take the pain of bleeding just so that we exist, then can't I wash a simple sheet for you?" he asked her.
"Don't you get repulsed?" she asked him softly.
"Why should I get repulsed by your blood?" he asked her, "You're separating me from you by asking this question."
"I'm not!" Bondita answered, not liking the idea of being separated from her Pati Babu even in theory.
