46 - A Build-Up of Feelings

If Anirudh denied that he was in Bondita's room all night, then Sampoorna Maa would get into more trouble, and he couldn't put her at risk, no matter how much he despised her actions from earlier. 

So Anirudh had no choice but to accept it. 

"Anirudh why were you there?" Trilochan asked, almost like he was in a state of disbelief -- never in his wildest imaginations did he think that Anirudh would spend the whole night in his Bahu's room of his own will anytime soon! 

Anirudh looked around helplessly. He looked at Bondita whose eyes were wide. 

"Say something Anirudh!" Kaka demanded. 

Anirudh went up to Bondita and touched her cheeks gently in front of everyone. Bondita looked up at him with a smile, the pace of her heart increasing again when he did this. 

Trilochan watched this act of Anirudh's with a raised eyebrow, and he noticed his Bahu's reaction. If Anirudh continued to do these things, then obviously Bondita would fall more and more in love with him. How could he continue to touch her like that and expect her to keep her feelings at bay? Even the way that Anirudh looked at her clearly showed his love for Bondita. Of course it would make that poor girl's heart melt. 

If there was anyone leading her on, it was Anirudh himself. 

However, Trilochan wasn't worried about this, because he had also seen in Anirudh's eyes the truth. The truth that Bondita was closer to him than Anirudh was to himself. 

"Bondita," Anirudh said, smiling at her warmly and cupping her face, "Don't you think our secret should stay our own?" 

Bondita was just grinning at him when he smiled at her and looked into her eyes like that. The way he looked at her was making her whole insides perform somersaults. 

"What secret?" Trilochan demanded. 

"Nothing Kaka," Anirudh said, letting go of Bondita and turning to look at him. "We don't feel like we need to give any explanations for this." 

"And why is that?" Kaka demanded again. 

"Because we know the truth, and it's nobody else's business," Anirudh informed coolly. 

Binoy snickered beside them, and Anirudh turned to look at his dad. 

"Anirudh, even me and Sampoorna know the truth about our relationship, and it's not your business. Yet, you still came here demanding an explanation," Binoy said. "So if you don't want to explain yourself to anyone, don't expect anyone to explain themselves to you." 

Anirudh felt anger build up within him again, and he was about to scream at his father that the matter was totally different, when Bondita stepped forward and held his hand in her own. 

The way she held his hand made him look down at their clasped hands, and his anger immediately subsided. 

"Pati Babu, did we do anything wrong that we have to hide it?" Bondita asked him innocently. 

"We didn't do anything wrong," Anirudh said, "And if anyone sees anything wrong about this, then it's a reflection of their own minds, not about our relationship." 

He glared at Kaka, Sampoorna and his father. 

"I see nothing wrong," Trilochan said with a smile -- in fact, he was dancing inside. "You continue to stay in Bahu's room. In fact, you can just move in there. I won't see a single thing wrong!" 

Bondita grinned when she heard this. 

"Kaka, it's not what you are thinking," Anirudh told him immediately.
