Anirudh broke the kiss and kissed the tear tracks that had run down Bondita's cheeks. She was so precious to him, that he couldn't see her cry like this, looking defeated.

"Don't be sad, please," he whispered to her.

She looked into his eyes and whispered back, "Our first night... you worked so hard... you made it so special, and now this?"

Anirudh shook his head and said, "I didn't make it special so that we can make love Bondita. I made it special because you are special."

More tears flooded her eyes and he reached to wipe them gently with his thumbs.

"If you cry, then do you think I can be okay?" he asked her softly.

She sniffled and hugged him tightly, inhaling the scent that had made her crave him so badly. He wrapped his arms around her preciously and said to her, "I'll hold you in my arms all night long, just like this. Won't it be a special night Bondita?"

She nodded against his chest. She was lucky to even hold him. When she had first come here, they thought they would be separated for months, but now there was less than a month for her to go back to to her own haveli, and they hadn't even separated for more than a few days.

"I need to get my pads," she said to him through her tears.

"Let's go," he told her softly, breaking the embrace.

He leaned towards her and kissed her forehead.

"My white dress is ruined," she sobbed again.

"It's not ruined," he told her with a frown, "We can clean it."

"It won't be the same white!" she cried.

"I'll get you another one Bondita," he told her softly, "Don't cry."

"This one's special! You dressed me in this one!"

He smiled and said, "I'll dress you in the other one too."

"I'll keep this dress with me forever! As a memory!" Bondita said, and then smiled through her tears, "One day, when we have children, we can look at this dress and remember how nothing goes as we plan in life."

Anirudh looked at her with awe when she mentioned their children, and also at her sudden positivity, and he said, "That's very true my Bondita. We can tell them all about it."

He was happy that she was smiling again, and she blushed with excitement when he acknowledged their future children.

"Pati Babu, there's a shack here where girls on their periods stay," Bondita informed him on the way down, "Maa just came from there."

"What?!" Anirudh bellowed.

"Shh..." Bondita whispered, afraid that they would get caught.

"I won't let you stay in some shack!" Anirudh said angrily. "If Thakumaa doesn't want you to come to the kitchen and do any work, like Kaka, that much is fine with me. But, no shacks! No dark rooms! You should be treated like a Goddess, not like a criminal!"

Bondita smiled at him and said, "Maybe Thakumaa won't send me there, since I'm the Roy Choudhary Bahu... but she has orthodox beliefs Pati Babu."

Anirudh shook his head angrily. There was something seriously wrong with this system and they had to change it! A time of the month that was once used to give women rest on those days because they were treated like Goddesses, was now completely turned upside down by the society!
