That day, Bondita tried hard to get Roopa's attention, but Roopa didn't even look at her. Bondita knew that Pati Babu was upset over how she handled Batuk and Vikram earlier, but he had to realize that even if they stood for the same things, their methods could not always be the same!
Right now though, she wasn't in the mood to argue with him. She wanted to show him her freshly waxed body and perfectly aligned eyebrows... and for that, she needed him to at least look at her!
Roopa was washing dishes in the kitchen while Thakumaa and Rimjhim were talking about the match that was coming the next day for Tupur.
"Psst..." Bondita whispered to Anirudh, but he looked ahead at the dishes, ignoring her.
She breathed loudly.
How long was he going to avoid her for? He would have to come to her bedroom at night anyways.
"Roopa!" Bondita finally said.
Roopa continued to wash the dishes, while asking, "What is it Bondita Malikin?"
She noticed the way he said Malikin and not Madame. Bondita furrowed her eyebrows.
She knew she didn't do anything wrong, but her Pati Babu's middle name ought to be overreactor!
"I don't think you dusted my room properly! Can you go up and do it?" Bondita asked.
Thakumaa looked at Bondita when she made such an odd request.
"Bondita, I think you have taken a liking to Roopa. You always ask her to do tasks for you," Thakumaa pointed out. "I just went to your room, and it was fine."
"Of course I like Roopa!" Bondita huffed. "She takes great care of me!"
Anirudh tried hard not to smile, his heart melting already.
"Roopa indeed takes great care of you. She promised me that she would pay special attention to you," Thakumaa said with a smile. "And then there's that Anirudh Roy Choudhary, who left you alone the moment I didn't allow you to see him..."
Now Anirudh frowned.
Left Bondita alone? He was here with her every moment of everyday, but Thakumaa had no idea.
"My Pati Babu can never leave me alone!" Bondita said faithfully, and Anirudh couldn't help but feel his heart melt again with her words.
"Then where is he Bondita?" Thakumaa asked, shaking her head slowly.
"If you allow me to meet him, then he will meet me in a heartbeat!" Bondita answered.
Thakumaa just laughed sarcastically and said, "Roopa, what do you think? Should I let Bondita meet that Anirudh Roy Choudhary?"
Roopa looked up at Thakumaa and said in her high-pitched voice, "Of course Thakumaa. You don't want to separate them for real, do you?"
Thakumaa sighed loudly and said, "Of course not! I just want Bondita to be happy in that house."
"I'm very happy!" Bondita said, furrowing her brows.
Thakumaa informed Roopa, "She's happy now, because of Anirudh Roy Choudhary's false promises, but she doesn't know what the future holds!"
Rimjhim was standing there, rolling her eyes. The conversation had turned to revolve around Bondita as usual. Bondita had to leave this house as fast as she could, so that Thakumaa could focus on her daughters instead.
"Why do you think that he is making false promises Thakumaa?" Roopa asked with a frown. "What if his promises aren't false?"
Thakumaa said, "He has that Trilochan Roy Choudhary's blood running through his veins. Of course his promises are false. And he wants Bondita to become a barrister. He would rather make her a barrister than make her a wife or a mother! He preaches big things, but won't even touch his wife."
