Two boys sat down in the crown prince's room, enjoying a nice pot of freshly boiled tea. The porcelain cups were pleasing to the eye and the taste of the aromatic tea was absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere was playful, one of the two smiling while the other gave a blank face, though that wasn't to say he was at all displeased. It was just part of his nature, the part of him that the young prince enjoyed the most.
"How is our angel doing this fine day?" the ravenette prince hummed, beaming as he brought up the little noble girl, "I saw her wandering around the garden earlier. She was so cute that I had one of our painters capture the scene!"
"And I assume that you asking me how she's doing is because when she noticed, she immediately ran away from your grotesque form?"
The two boys stared at one another for a while before bursting out into playful laughter. It was true that they would often clash when speaking about the young marquess, giving one another sny insults and putting the other down. Still, they had been friends since they were born, their mothers on wonderful terms, so it was hard to remain mad at a life-long companion. Yet they could manage it if they truly wanted.
For instance, when they were younger, the enamored crown prince had often stalked around the young marquess - not that he had ceased doing such things. However, when he had reached a point where he commissioned painting after painting of the noble girl, he could no longer keep them all in his room. The girl's adopted brother then discovered upon it by pure chance, and almost fainted from shock. He had requested to take the ones that the prince could not harbor, but he refused.
Due to this, there began a war over who could find the artist that best captured the angel-like qualities of the (h/c) haired girl. In their fighting, the two boys refused to so much as look at one another, and the argument continued over more than six months. However, because of their pure angel who wept at the two's fighting, they soon made up and forgot the issue, both agreeing to admire her together.
"She was a bit shy, I suppose," the ravenette chuckled with adoration, "but she's never not. I was just wondering if I could get away with giving her the gifts I have for her."
"(Y/n)'s alright," the grey-haired male nodded, taking another sip of tea, "She's been really excited about the hunting festival, especially since father gave her a crossbow to use."
"Hm? She's taking part in the hunting this year?"
"Yes, even been practicing riding on the horse with father. She even grabbed onto my shirt the other day and asked me to take her shopping for a hunting outfit. My goodness, it's so cute!"
A jealous look crossed the ravenette's face over thinking he missed picking out a hunting outfit for the angel. At the sight of it, the girl's adopted brother turned his nose up in pride, crossing his arms over his chest and smiling joyfully. He was pleased to be the only one to ever have unconditional access to seeing the younger girl. Even if the ravenette would have been able to request her presence, she could refuse. Meanwhile, she absolutely adored her elder brother more than life itself, clinging to him like a duckling.
"I must have done some horrible things in my past life," the crown prince shivered, looking down at the ground with his fingers intertwined with a frightened expression, "To be so close...yet so far away from such an angel. What did I do?"
"And I must have been the faithful sage of the goddess of beauty!"
"No kidding..."
The ravenette continued to beat himself up, his trembling eyes making the young noble boy chuckle. He had seemingly won that tiny battle they had, proud to be the elder brother of such a fine young lady. The two would have wagered that she was the most sought-after girl their age. Even though they were young, she had won over near everything that had ever set foot next to her. There was once a time where she had encountered the ice-cold duke of West Noborry and proceeded to win his heart by gifting him a handkerchief she'd embroidered herself. Her smile was so bright she blinded him. At least, that was the rumor that went around.
