Juilliard School, New YorkIt was now the 3rd week of Juilliard, everyone was beginning to ease into the pace of school. After their first session of the collaborative module, they were given their very first big assignment for the semester. They were to pick and research about a specific musician, select a piece from their oeuvre and present their reasons why they chose this specific piece and musician. There was no limit as to what kind of artist they picked - as long as it was a classical musician.
Today's class session was dedicated for the students to do their research and discussion. They were allowed to discuss anywhere on campus as long as they returned to the classroom at the allotted time.
Study Room, Music Library, Faculty of Music
Seungho, Stephanie, Seokhoon and Rona decided to book a room in the music library. The rooms in the library allow students to discuss freely for any group assignments or if they wish to study in peace.
So do you two have any ideas of what musicians you would like to focus on? Are we thinking piano or vocals?
I am wondering if we should even be focusing on either of these two?
What do you mean Seokhoon?
Think about it, this is meant to be collaborative plus remember what the Prof said about thinking outside the box. I am sure many groups will choose either a piano or vocal musician. But people like Mozart did not just write and compose piano pieces but violin and others. So why stick to the usual things?
Rona and Stephanie felt that what Seokhoon said made a lot of sense. Considering there was no limit to the topic- why not choose something that was not their usual area of studies. Music no matter what was all encompassing, they should use this chance to really expand and broaden their understanding and knowledge of music.
The four spent the rest of the day researching classical musicians and their works - they paid special attention to works that were not meant for piano but perhaps violin or flute.
About two hours later, class was almost up. They packed up their belongings and headed back to class. On the way back, they met Yoo Jung's group.
Hey, how did things go?
Hey Rona, I think it went alright - I think we got most of what we need to do all figured out. What about you?
Yeah we too, we have already settled on a direction for our research. So it is just time to read and compile before we move ahead. Hey Gabbie, did everything go alright?
Gabbie was walking silently behind the group, she seemed really quiet and her expression did not look that happy. She didn't reply Rona but just stared at them, well more specifically she was staring between Seokhoon and Rona, her gaze drifting between the two until she landed on their joint hands. She looked back up to see Rona looked at her curiously and almost with worry.
I am fine. She curtly replied Rona before entering the classroom. Rona looked worryingly at Gabbie's back as she walked into the class.
Did something happen?
I don't think so, nothing much happened during our discussion.
Note: I know the assignment sucks and because Uni was somewhat ages ago haha i don't know what topics - so I am just making it simple for my own brain's sake. Hope you understand.
Please note that next chapter is like a con-current chapter, so it takes place at the same time as this chapter. Hope it is not confusing.
