A/N Hey loves! I wholeheartedly think that my laptop does not want me to write this chapter. It is lagging incredibly and it's making writing this very difficult. I am going to push through and let it go as choppy as it feels like. If there's any spelling mistakes, please ignore it like you guys have been for the previous chapters.
"Please shoot me already." Sage dropped her head on the lunch table in defeat. She had been helping Lydia plan her birthday party and the day before the party had finally arrived, but Lydia was no closer to calm.
"We will do no such thing," Isaac placed his hands on both sides of her to comfort her, while shooting daggers at Stiles who seemed to be weighing her request, "Come on, eat something."
"I do this every year. Why do I choose to help Lydzilla every year." Sage groaned as she looked at the unappealing food in front of her.
"Because I'm your best friend and no matter how much of a nightmare I am, you know that you love me." Lydia set her books down next to the brunette and handed her a container that seemed to be steaming.
"Is that what I think it is?" Sage's eyes lit up as she looked at the container.
"Natalie Martin's Chicken, Cheddar, and Broccoli Soup. Made specifically for birthdays and yes there's extra broccoli." Lydia answered, but had already turned her attention to the homework that Sage knew was ahead of schedule.
"I take it back I love you more than anything. I love planning your birthday!" Sage gave her best friend air kisses before opening the container of cheesy goodness.
"I'm confused. Soup?" Isaac looked between the two girls, his eyebrows furrowed together in an intrigued expression.
"Every year my mom makes soup for mine and Sage's birthday. Sage is absolutely obsessed with it. I stopped liking it in the 8th grade but I didn't have the heart to tell my mom so I bring it for Sage. It's a win win." Lydia answered Isaac's question, gesturing to Sage who was already checked out of the conversation.
"If only she was always this quiet." Stiles mumbled, hoping that Sage didn't hear him. When she kicked his leg as hard as she could, he realized he was too loud.
Just before Stiles had the chance to continue complaining, Seraphina came charging up to the table. She dropped her books on the table and Stiles' attention turned to her immediately. She looked more annoyed with school than usual.
"What's wrong Squid?" Stiles asked with a completely different tone than he had with Sage seconds ago.
"I hate Economics." Seraphina frowned and looked over at Sage, "No offense to your dad."
"None taken." Sage barely looked up from her bowl of soup.
"It just doesn't make any sense!" Seraphina sat down next to Stiles and dropped her head onto the table next to him.
"Stiles, you have an A in Economics. Why don't you help her?" Sage set her bowl down for a moment, looking over at the two.
Seraphina's head shot up from the table and the two both rapidly, and awkwardly, attempted to deny Sage's idea. Isaac quickly caught on to Sage's plan, as did Lydia and they both nodded in agreement.
"I think Sage is right. Stiles you're great in Economics, it would probably help her a lot to have your input." Isaac raised an eyebrow at the two, who's faces were now a matching shade of red.
"I think that's a great idea." Scott said as he walked up to the table, clearly using his wolf hearing from across the courtyard.
"Well then that settles that. You'll help me right Stilinski?" Seraphina caved and turned to Stiles, hope gleaming through her eyes.
"I'm in." Stiles nervously nodded.
-
"Hey Isaac!" Sage shoulder her bag and jogged towards him, hoping to catch him before practice.
"Hey Sage. What's up?" Isaac turned around at the sound of his name and smiled at the shorter girl.
"I was wondering if you had a date to Lydia's party?" Sage bit the inside of her cheek in nervousness.
"No I don't think I do." Isaac raised his eyebrow in curiosity.
"Well now you do." Sage turned on her heels and disappeared into the sea of lacrosse boys, wanting nothing more than to get to the bleachers before she had the chance to think about the move she just made.
She sat down in her usual spot and watched as Lydia strutted to join her. She hadn't been around the field much since she started dating Allison, but now that they were split, she was coming back into her old routine.
"So which number is your new boy toy?" Lydia teased pushing her shoulder into her best friend's.
"Isaac is #14 you red headed hell spawn. But he is not my boy toy." Sage rolled her eyes playfully at the drama that was her best friend.
"Whatever you say, but sooner or later you'll have to accept what the rest of us already know. You two are so into each other. And a little wolfie told me about your kiss." Lydia opened her backpack and pulled out her notebook to start her homework, once again being ahead of the curve.
"Remind me to skin Scott alive when he's done with practice okay?" Sage rolled her eyes, she knew exactly which wolf told on her.
"Isn't that considered animal abuse?" Lydia tried to contain her laughter.
"He deserves it."
-
"Why are you yelling at me!? It could've easily been Stiles!" Scott threw the crumbled piece of paper that he had in his hand at Stiles, attempting to save his own skin. The trio was sat on the floor in the living room of the Finstock Residence.
"Stiles doesn't howl at the moon and bark at the mailman now does he?" She rolls her eyes and pauses for a moment as they both look over at Stiles. "Do you bark at the mailman?"
Instead of throwing something at her, or giving a quick sarcastic response, Stiles seemed to be in his own world. The idea of Stiles not having a comeback sparked interest in both Sage and Scott. Their war was on hold as they decided to pry on their best friend's secrets.
"Alright, what gives Stilinski. We gave you multiple openings for sarcasm." Sage kicked her best friend to get his attention.
Stiles finally snapped back to reality and looked at the other two. "What? Sorry I was-"
"Thinking about a certain brunette?" Scott raised an eyebrow, and his confirmation was Stiles' face lighting up red.
"Oh so you are in love with Derek!" Sage teased, finally getting a reaction out of him. He tossed a pillow from the couch at her, but he aimed it poorly and it flew into the hallway, just as Coach was coming into the room.
He stood for a second, with a blank look on his face as Scott and Sage fought to control their laughter. "Stilinski, there are so many things I want to say to you right now. I assume you know you'll be running suicides for a month?" He turned and walked up the stairs. "Hey McCall, Sage sweetheart I'm ordering in for us tonight." And with that he left the trio in shock.
"You two are going to get me killed." Stiles groaned as he fell to the ground in dramatics.
"Hey! You threw the pillow at me remember! It's not my fault you have no aim." Sage laughed and launched a pen at Stiles.
Coach stood at the top of the stairs listening to his daughter and her best friends argue like small children. He was hard on the boys, but they were the best friends that Sage had ever had and for that he loved them. He looked at the wedding photo on the wall and smiled again, this time at the thought of his wife.
"She's all grown up Nai. She's got friends who really love her. I think I did alright, but I would've done better with you here." He wiped the tear from his eye and walked into his room.
