A/N I am gonna be honest, the last three chapters have been written in the span of a day. I am having a great time with this plot and I think it's better (in my opinion) than the whole Argent family storyline of season two.
Everyone's heads turned to face the voice. Peter Hale stood behind them, an evil look in his eyes, and a cruel smile plastered across his face. Erica stood next to him with that same smirk. Sage pulled Lydia closer but there was nothing but hate fueling her.
"Guess who's back?" Peter dragged out his words, trying his hardest to make them all angry.
"Peter what they hell did you do?" Seraphina glared at Peter, who just laughed in response.
"Oh she's not dead. I'm not a complete animal." He rolled his eyes at the distress on everyone's face, "She'll wake up soon. But she and I are linked now. You can't kill me without killing her."
"We'll find a way to stop you. And when we do I will skin you alive with my bare hands and wear you as a coat." Sage spat at Peter, but kept her eyes on Lydia's peaceful yet pained face.
"Don't worry, there's no need to kill me. I'm not an alpha anymore." He flashed his eyes, and instead of red, they flashed an icy blue. The same blue that Derek's eyes kept. "See?"
"You're not an alpha anymore? I thought-" Erica spoke with a look of shock, but immediately averted her eyes from Peter. Alpha or not she was terrified of him.
"I would kill you if it didn't mean that Lydia died too." Isaac's growled, the golden eyes that Sage thought were absolutely breathtaking, shining through.
"Well it does mean that." Peter dismissed Isaac's anger. "I hear one of my prodigies is giving you grief? I leave for a few weeks and suddenly there's lizard people." He shrugged. "That's all on you. While you deal with that, I'll be, elsewhere."
He turned and walked out of the door, leaving everyone speechless as Erica strutted off to follow him. The pack turned to look at Sage, who still held Lydia in her arms. Sage felt herself smile as Lydia started to move slowly, still vastly in pain.
"What happened?" Lydia looked at the tears on Sage's face with pure confusion.
"It's all okay now."
-
"So I brought Peter back to life?" Lydia asked as she tightened the blankets around her. She felt so guilty, even when they tried to explain it wasn't her fault.
"Hey," Sage reached for her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, "You did not bring Peter back to life. That blonde bitch tricked you." She tilted her head and placed it gently on her best friend's shoulder.
"I don't know why she needed me though. Why not one of you?" She looked around at the room full of wolves.
"Why not a Hale?" Seraphina asked quietly, and the room grew silent.
Eventually Sage couldn't take the silence and she walked down to the basement to get some air. Lydia, Stiles, Scott, and Isaac shared a look and before any of the boys could stand up, Lydia had beaten them to it. She dropped her blanket and looked at all three of them once more.
"Something tells me that one of you is the problem here." She glared at Isaac, "Just because I wasn't in control at my party doesn't mean I don't remember my party."
She walked downstairs to find the brunette. The boys looked at Isaac with a hint of confusion before remembering what Erica said earlier in the night and suddenly Scott was growling. While Derek and Boyd tried to stop the war upstairs, Evangeline and Seraphina disappeared to help Lydia with the one downstairs.
"Sage?" Seraphina peeked her head in and Evangeline's head appeared over hers.
"Can we come in?" Evangeline asked hoping for the best.
When Sage nodded, the girls both hurried into the room and sat on the floor on either side of Lydia and Sage. The brunette girl had her head rested in Lydia's lap, who was gently playing with her hair. The four girls sat in silence for a while, but Seraphina was listening in on the war going on upstairs.
"You did what!?" Stiles whisper yelled trying his best not to alert Sage that there was chaos.
"I didn't do anything. Erica kissed me and before I could push her off Sage was out the door!" He jumped back to avoid Scott who looked nearly ready to kill him.
"And you didn't think to tell either of us? Or anyone else at all!?" Scott's anger was overwhelming him and for once, Stiles was the calm one.
Downstairs, the girls were in a much calmer state. Sage was feeling so many emotions at once, and she didn't know which one was causing the issues. Seraphina, Evangeline, and Lydia didn't want to push her any farther than she was ready to go.
"I saw my mom." Sage finally spoke, her voice was vulnerable, quiet.
"What honey?" Evangeline's voice softened as she looked at the sad look on her face.
"My nightmare. It was my mom." The other three girls fell silent, "She told me that she never wanted me, that I ruined her life. That I was the cause of all the bad that happened to her." As she cried, the three girls hugged her, each knowing that nothing they said would change anything, she just needed her friends.
-
"What the hell did you idiots do!?" Sage crossed her arms as she walked into the living room, which was more destroyed than usual.
"They tried to kill each other." Boyd didn't hesitate to put the blame on the real culprits.
"You two, sit. Now." She looked at both Stiles and Scott who did as told, "You. Outside. Now." Sage looked at Isaac before turning to everyone else. "The rest of you, no supernatural hearing, no eavesdropping. You sit, you shut up. I come back, we figure out how to get rid of Jackson, then we deal with Peter and Erica. Do I make myself clear?" The silence answered her question for her.
Isaac was waiting for her outside and he could feel his heart beating out of his chest. He didn't mean to hurt her. Nothing in the world could make him hurt her, except Erica and her evil plan to bring back Satan himself. He felt so guilty, and he wasn't even the one who initiated it.
"Sage I-"
"You don't speak. I talk. You listen. Got it?" Sage stopped him and waited for a confirmation.
"Okay."
"I am tired of yelling. I yelled at you, I yelled at Erica. I'm all out of yelling. I'm all out of pretending that this," She gestured between the two of them, "doesn't mean anything to me. Because it does. That kiss meant a lot to me, what you said meant a lot to me. It still means a lot to me. I want us to mean something to you. I am so sick of pretending that I don't want to be with you!"
After a moment of silence, Isaac whispered, "Can I talk now?"
"If you must," Sage responded, trying to ignore the tears in her eyes.
"I didn't kiss Erica. I wouldn't kiss Erica. I only want to kiss one girl," Isaac placed his hand on the side of her cheek and smiled as she leaned into his touch, "and that one girl is standing right in front of me. And I would let her yell at me any day of the week."
He leaned down and pressed his lips against hers. Just like the times before, when they kissed it was like nothing else in the world existed. For the first time today, everything felt right. In the day of chaos and pain, they felt nothing but happiness rush over them. Sage pulled away and stared into his blue eyes, feeling her heart speed up.
"Maybe I should yell at you more often." Sage teased and Isaac laughed, pressing his forehead against hers.
