Laylah POV:
"Eh?"
I slowly open my eyes to see Archie, Claire, Steve, Blinky and some other cat over my head.
"Douxie! Laylah!"
"You brave, foolish children" Archie chuckles
Steve and Claire help Douxie and I sit up.
"But everything hurts" Douxie and I whine at the same time.
"I can't believe you're okay" Claire says whipping the tears out of her eyes.
"Barely! Seems you're the one with nine lives. And don't you ever do that again" Archie says hugging Douxie and I.
The mysterious black kitty walks over towards me.
"Um are you Laylah?" She asks
Her voice was gentle and sweet.
I nod. "Yes, and you?"
"Adeline" She replies
I turn to Douxie kind of confused. "Uh?"
But Douxie had already read my mind.
"She's Archie's sister, and a familiar and I thought you would like to be you know....."
I turn back to Adeline. Not many people know this about me but I have always wanted a familiar.
"Of course!" I burst out excitedly making Adeline jump at bit.
"Sorry" I apologise.
"To much?"
Steve and Claire started to help Douxie and I on our legs.
"Happy your alive, Teach"
"Yeah!"
"Easy. We just came back from beyond the grave. But wait where's Jim?" Douxie asks
Jim comes out from behind everyone.
"Mordrax's miracles. It seems we've missed a lot" Douxie chuckles looking at me.
"Same, but glad to be back"
"What about Arthur?" I query
"Squished" Aaargh says
"Indeed. And I'm afraid with their demise, Excalibur...."
We all turn to find Excalibur's sword stuck in one big rock.
"Is right over here!"
And before we knew it Toby was trying to pull the sword out.
"Okay, I just had to try"
"What of you, Master Jim?"
"What?" Jim says acting surprised.
"Jim, Blink's right. With Arthur gone, someone needs to wield Excalibur" Douxie says as he starts to walk on his own. I start to do the same.
"Who better than the Trollhunter?" I say looking over to the sword and back.
"But without the amulet, am I still the Trollhunter?"
"This means nothing, Jim. If I've learned anything, it's that we don't draw strength from magic artefacts like amulets and swords. Our strength is something for less enchanted, but no less special—our friends" Douxie raps his arms around Claire and Jim
"We are the protectors of this world. That's why I made the gamble I did. Because the only way to stop the Arcane Order and save this world is to do it together"
I touch Douxie's chin and I move it around a bit.
"Are you sure our Douxie came back from the dead?"
Archie jumps on to Douxie's shoulder and Adeline jumps onto mine.
"This one is super sappy"
"Cheeky"
We all burst out into laughter.
"It's time Nari and I got a move on, before the Order catches up"
"You're leaving? Already?" Claire says
"But what about Laylah?"
"Yea Doux!" I say grabbing his hand.
"Lay....." He holds both of my hands.
"As much as I don't want to say this but...."
"But what?!"
"I think it would be best for you to stay here with Jim"
Everyone gasps.
"But why Doux?" I ask.
This didn't make any sense to me.
"If I took Nari, and Jim took you...."
"Protecting you both and keeping both away in different locations..."
"Is the best option"
I sigh. "So the Arcane Order won't find Nari or I we would be in different spots..."
He nods.
"But I will see you very soon and while I'm gone...." Douxie turns to Jim.
"Please keep her safe for me"
Jim nods as Douxie jumps onto the ship with Nari and Archie.
Jim puts his hand on my shoulder.
"He will be back"
"Don't worry, I'll be seeing you champions of Arcadia soon enough!" Douxie yells as the ship goes off into the sky.
"Be safe, Doux..." I whisper under my breath.
Protologue
Douxie POV:
"The worlds goanna end! Were all goanna die!"

I grab a coin out of my pocket and flip it into the man's plastic cup.
"Not on my watch" I smirk as I walk around the corner with Nari and Archie on my shoulder.
