Chapter 2 - Im not a bad guy

Author note: Hi guys, I'm glad you got through the first chapter and enjoyed it!
Just thought id ask you guys about the title of the story. I'm not 100% sold on it yet so if anyone has any suggestions, they'd be most welcomed ^.^

When you woke up it wasn't like waking up from a good night's sleep. It wasn't even like waking up from a bad night's sleep. Your whole body ached and you felt groggy. Like, really groggy.

You go to rub the soreness out of your eyes but two things stopped you. One being the excruciating pain that radiated from your shoulder which caused you to yelp slightly in pain which flung your eyes wide open. The second was you could only move your hands about five inches.

A small panic set in when you realised you couldn't move your hands and you sat bolt upright, despite the pain in your shoulder and you looked at your wrists. You were cuffed to what looked to be a hospital bed.

You took in your surroundings and saw that you were in a hospital bed in a hospital room. But it didn't look like a normal hospital room. No. It was different somehow but you weren't sure why. You also were not sure why you were cuffed to the bed either but today just seemed like a big day of confusion in general at that point.

Your mind was going through the events that had took place however long ago it had been since you got shot when you heard raised voices outside

"She shouldn't be cuffed to the bed, Tony!" You could pick Peppers voice out of a crowd of voices any time and she didn't seem too happy.

"She could be dangerous!" You just about managed to hear Tony say back to her from outside the door of the room

"Oh come on, she saved my life!" Pepper argued back, her voice slightly quieter that time, but only slightly. You were glad she was on your side

"Urm, excuse me?!" You called out, hoping they would hear you over their heated discussion

The door opened and Tony and Pepper came in, Pepper coming right over to you and giving you a hug while saying "I'm so glad you're okay!" You winced at the pain in your shoulder when she hugged you. "Oh, I'm so sorry!"

"Don't worry about it. I'm glad you're okay" You smiled to her, seeing she was genuinely happy to see you weren't dying.

"Well, Pepper says you saved her life at the office" Tony said to you, seeming a bit skeptical

"I wouldn't say I saved her life, I just got her out of there" You shrugged, wincing again in pain. How did you keep forgetting you had a bullet hole in your back?

"And then you levelled the ground floor?" Tony asked, crossing his arms

"I-what? What do you mean?" You asked, having no idea what he was talking about. He pulled out his phone and got a video up and turned it to you. It was CCTV footage of the front of the office building and you watched as you and Pepper were running for the doors. When you saw yourself get hit by the bullet, you flinch slightly. What happened on the video after that was amazing. As you hit the floor, the blue shimmer burst out from you and all around you. Glass shattered everywhere and everyone on the video was knocked backwards. "Huh" was all you said when the video finished, completely baffled by what you had just witnessed.

"What does "huh" mean?" Tony asked, eyeing you suspiciously

"Well, I can see from the video that it obviously came from me, but I didn't know I could do that. I thought it was just a harmless shimmer that glows in my hands sometimes" You explained. You had no idea the shimmer could do that. Could do anything, in fact.

Tony stood there for a minute, looking at you, deciding if you were telling the truth or not. He finally turned to Pepper and said, "Can you give us a minute, Pep?"

She looked from him, to you and back to Tony and then nodded and left the two of you in the room alone, which was slightly intimidating

"So, you didn't know anything about it?" Tony asked.

"I swear" You said, putting your hands up in front of you. Well, you tried to, but you forgot they were still cuffed to the bed

"Okay, I believe you. '' He replied and put his thumb to the cuffs and they fell off your wrists. You were flooded with relief that he didn't think you were lying. "So, what did you mean when you said it sometimes glows in your hands?"

You looked at your hands and concentrated on trying to make the blue shimmer appear, but nothing happened and you let out a huff of a sigh. "Well, sometimes they glow that blue shimmery colour. Sometimes I can make it happen, but its not very often, and usually when they are blue, I just shake them and it goes away," you finished with a small shrug of your shoulders.

"Alright. Come with me. Are you okay to walk?" He asked. You nodded and got up off the bed, your wound not hurting you as much any more and followed him out of the room and through some hallways.

"How long was i asleep by the way?" You asked as you stepped into an elevator after Tony and the doors closed behind you

"A good fifteen hours," Tony answered. "Oh, thank you for saving Pepper by the way," he added with a genuine smile which made the corners of your own mouth tug up. 

"Well, I couldn't let my boss get hurt," You said with a blush rising to your cheeks, trying to brush it off.

"Either way, it means a lot to me" he added as the elevator dinged and you both stepped off it and into another corridor

"So, where are we going?" You asked curiously, peeking around him to try and get your bearings.

"To meet the team" Tony said too casually.

You stopped in your tracks, your heart skipping a beat. Tony stopped when he realised you had and turned to look at you

"What do you mean to meet the team?" You asked, voice a bit too high pitched to be natural and trying not to sound terrified.

"Well, if you're going to be on the team, you need to meet the team" he smirked at you as your eyes went wide and you could start to hear your heart beating in your ears.

"Y-you mean...?" You stuttered, not being able to form a full sentence, the shock too much for you

"Yep, you're an Avenger now, kid. I mean, if you want to be'' Tony continued to grin at you as your mouth opened and then closed. God, you were so embarrassing. "Is that a yes?" He laughed when you didn't answer or move

You nodded your head quickly. "Yes, oh my god yes! But wait, I'm nothing special. I can't fight or anything!" The horror of you being totally useless to the team overcame you.

"You levelled a whole floor of my building. With some training you'll be a huge asset to the team. Now come on" He chuckled and beckoned for you to carry on following him. You let out a little squeal and a jump and hurried off after him to go and meet your fellow Avengers
