Chapter 7 - The God gives in

"Loki, is this true?" Thor asked his brother while trying to comfort a shocked you sat next to him

"It can't be, can it?" Tony asked from your other side, shock written all over his face too.

"It is, brother" Loki was looking at and answering only to Thor, still with a smug look on his face but it wasn't anywhere near as menacing as it had been earlier. "I'm surprised you didn't notice it yourself, although the oaf that you are, it doesn't surprise me"

"Y/N, are you alright?" Nat asked looking at you concerned, but all you could do was nod your head in reply.

"Well everyone back up and let's give her some space" Steve suggested but no one, not even he, moved. Everyone was just as shocked as you were at the news

"Well, what does it mean?" Bruce asked from standing further back than the rest of them, not getting in the middle of all of it and trying to not be near Loki.

"I don't know, but at least now we know" Nat answered him, still searching your face for any sort of indication for what you were feeling other than shock

"Urm...guys...I think I'm going to lie down for a bit" You said to no one in particular and didn't wait for a response before you got up from your place of the settee and seemed to float to the elevator, not hearing a word anyone was saying to you

A week passed you by since Loki had told you about your magic. The day you found out you spent most of it sleeping, even missing your training session with Nat but you continued as normal the next day

No one seemed to know what to do with the new information that had been brought to light about your magic either and it wasn't discussed very much, especially while you were around. You did hear Thor and Loki arguing in the hallway outside your rooms one of the days, about Loki teaching you how to use it. It was Thor's idea but Loki was still adamant that he wasn't going to help you because he "does not owe anyone anything". You didn't take it to heart as you knew he was still hurting inside and he was right, he didn't owe you anything.

You did, however, start trying to summon the blue shimmer to your hands and within the week you could call upon it and make it go away as you pleased, which was something, even if it wasn't much. The shimmer always seemed to lighten your mood if you weren't feeling too great. You'd also been able to make it into a ball but it didn't do any damage to anything if you threw it at something, it just disappeared.

Loki had gone back to his usual self of not speaking to anyone but he would answer you with singular words like "Yes", "No" etc which wasn't much but it was still progress and you were determined to break down the walls he had put up around himself.

Just over a week after you found out about your Asgardian magic, the team was called out on a mission somewhere but you were not privy to the information.

"Alright, Y/N, will you be alright while we are gone?" Steve asked you as he was getting ready to leave, nodding towards where Loki was sat, nose deep in one of the books you had bought him

"Yeh. What's he going to do, murder me and get sent back to Asgard to be tortured by his dick of a dad?" You replied drily, annoyed at how the team were still treating him, even if he was still being a bit of a dick himself but you did see Loki stiffen slightly at the thought of being sent back to Asgard

Steve just rolled his eyes and shook his head at you and left to go to the Quinjet on the roof.

"If you need anything while we're gone, just call" Tony smiled over to you as he waved goodbye

"Stay safe guys!" You called after them as they all left, noticing an eye roll from Loki out the corner of your eye which made you smirk

Once you were left alone with him you carried on reading the book you had bought down to the living room with you for a while then decided to see if Loki would participate in some small talk now that there was no one else around.

"So, how many books have you got left to read that I bought you?" You asked, taking a leaf out of Loki's book and not looking up from reading.

There was a pause of silence for a few seconds and you didn't think he was going to answer, but then he did.

"I've read them all, I'm going back through them" he answer you

"Do you want something new to read?" You asked, this time moving your eyes to peer over at him over the top of your book.

"Why are you always being nice to me?" He asked, eyeing you, sounding somewhat annoyed. 

"Because I'm a nice person?" You suggested sarcastically.

Loki thought about this for a while and averted his eyes back to his book without saying anything which just rubbed you the wrong way.

"Hey, Loki. Think fast!" You said as you summoned your magic and threw it at him. The look of horror on his face as your magic flew the short distance to him across the room was a sight to see. The look when it just disappeared when it touched him was even better and it took all you had in you not to laugh at him

"What was that?!" He demanded, his attention now gone from his book and a look of anger on his face. 

"Oh calm down, you fool. I'm not going to do anything to hurt you," you rolled your eyes at him which got a glare in response. "I've been practicing. I don't know what it is exactly that I've been practicing, but practice nonetheless" You smiled proudly at yourself.

"You shouldn't be messing with magic if you don't know anything about it. You could hurt yourself" he sighed in exasperation

"Well no one else knows anything about it and you're being a drama queen about it so I'll have to figure it out for myself. And hey, do you think my magic is the reason you can't read my mind?" You asked, wondering if he was going to answer you

"If I agree to help you, will you stop messing with things you don't know about? And yes, it would appear that is the reason I cannot read your mind" He gave in with a sigh.

Your grin couldn't get any bigger if you tried and you nodded your head vigorously in response and sat forwards on the settee

"Alright, let's start..." he sighed and you then went on to learn about your new found powers
