The following weeks were the hardest Loki had ever had to face in his life. He had to come to terms that you were gone and you weren't coming back. The only woman he had ever been in love with and he was a mess for so long.

He locked himself in his room for the first week after getting back from killing Thanos. He only left for food and to place your memorial head stone among the ones belonging to the other members and close loved ones of the team who had been lost in the blip.

"Loki, it's time...We're going to place the headstones and I think you should place Y/N's," Tony said towards the end of the week after knocking at Loki's door

Loki opened the door slowly and looked a little shocked to see Tony there. He knew it was Tony's voice that had spoken to him, but he was still a little shocked to see him there and shocked at the fact he wanted him to place your memorial stone.

"You want me to?" He asked, making sure he had heard correctly

"Yeah, I'm placing Peter's and you should be the one to place Y/N's. She loved you so much and you loved her. You still do," Tony gave him a weak smile. Tony was looking a lot better than when he had arrived back on Earth a week beforehand. He was still a little on the slimmer side, but he was filling out again and looked a lot healthier.

Loki followed him out of his room and to where the rest of the team were waiting for them near one of the exits of the compound building. From there they all made their way to the edge of one of the grassy areas outside where it had been predetermined the placement of the headstones would be.

One by one the headstones were placed to mark the loss of each of their members: you, Peter, Sam, Vision, Bucky, Stephen, Wanda, T'Challa, Shuri, Fury, Maria, Scott, Quill, Mantis, Groot, Drax...all of them gone.

No one said much of anything because no one really knew what to say. Everyone there felt the loss of each and every one of the headstones that were placed.

People started splintering off to go about their own business, most likely to go and mourn in their own way, until it was only Loki left at the memorial site.

He sat down in front of your stone, tears streaming down his face as he felt the weight of the world on him. And for the first time, he properly mourned you. He cried for what felt like hours. He let all of his emotions flow through him and it hurt all over again. And he stayed there for an hour, alone...

He spent the next week with Pepper and Tony until he could get around comfortably on his own and then he went to New Asgard, to see Thor and Val after he received a worrying message from Val saying Thor wasn't doing too good. Normally he wouldn't have worried too much about his brother, but now Thor was the ruler of their people and if he was losing it, he couldn't look after them. And Loki knew that you would have wanted the best for them, so he was going to do his best to help make sure they were looked after.

When he reached New Asgard, he was surprised to see how well the Asgardians were thriving after the message he had received from Val but also not surprised because he knew his people were strong. They had farmland set up and fishing boats on the docks. Houses were all built and more were in the middle of construction.

"Hey! I was wondering when you were gonna get here!" Vall called to Loki when she saw him walking down by the docks

"Good to see you too, Lady Val" Loki grinned when he saw her. "How is he?"

"Not good. He barely leaves his house..." Val trailed off nodding to a house at the top of the highest cliff

"The people seem to be doing well though" Loki said

"Yeah but I'm worried about him" Val admitted

"I'll go and talk to him but I doubt he will listen" Loki sighed. Val nodded her acknowledgement and left to go and carry on her work at the docks

As Loki thought, Thor couldn't be reasoned with so he stayed for a couple of weeks, helping Val with odd jobs here and there and before he left, he told her if she or the people needed anything, to let him know and he would be there

As the months went by, he spent his time between the compound and Tony and Pepper's New House and New Asgard. He knew he had to keep himself busy or else he would end up just giving up with life, but a day didn't go by when he didn't think of you. Eight months later and Pepper had gotten really big with her baby bump and Loki was fussing over her nearly as much as Tony was. They had gotten really close over the months and even Tony considered him part of the family too.

When Morgan Stark was born Loki would tell her stories about you and him and Asgard. He would show her his magic and she was always mesmerised by it. Spending time with her, Tony and Pepper made him miss you even more, but he knew it was what you would have wanted him to do and would have made him do if you were still there with them.

Loki would spend his time still between New Asgard, the compound and Tony and Peppers. New Asgard didn't really need him all that much with Val there but he made an appearance every few months. He even helped Clint on a few of his revenge missions if he felt compelled to do so.

A year went by, then two, then before he knew it five years had gone by and he still wasn't over you. He didn't think he ever would be. But he had a life and things to live for.

Then one day, everything changed.
