Chapter 15 - The initiation

The next day you had to be out of the tower by 9am so you woke up at 8 o'clock, brushed your teeth, and looked in your wardrobe for something to wear. You chose a black dress that came to just above your knees that had mid length sleeves that were off the shoulder and flared out at the end. You also put on flesh coloured shorts just in case anything were to happen while you were out and you needed to be mobile.

You added a bit of light make up and left your wavy y/h/c down but pinned the sides back at the back of your head.

At half past 8 you went down to the kitchen to grab yourself a coffee and some toast to try and settle your stomach that was doing backflips from nerves.

When Nat came in, dressed up and ready to go, you turned to her. "Does this look okay? Is it too much?"

"You look great, Y/N. No need to panic, it'll be easy. Tony will do most of the talking and you just have to answer one or two questions at the end but we won't be there for long" She smiled as she placed a reassuring hand on your arm

Are you okay down there? I can hear your projected thoughts from here

Oh god, Loki! I'm so scared

Don't worry, you will do great and from what I can tell from Lady Natasha's thoughts, you look great

Thanks, Loki. And stop reading people's minds. You added that part only part jokingly

Your internal conversation was cut short when Tony came in with the rest of the team and he stopped in his tracks when he saw you. "My little girl is all grown up!" He clapped his hands together and came over to give you a kiss on the cheek as you revelled at him calling you his 'little girl'. That's when it really hit you that you had found your family. This bunch of strange and wonderful people were your family. Something you'd never had before, not really.

"Y/N, are you okay? Why're you crying?!" Tony asked looking worried at the tear that had managed to escape your eye.

"Because I've never had a family before and now I have the best one" you tried to say without bawling your eyes out as Nat handed you a tissue. You saw that your comment had brought tears to everyone's eyes and you all huddled together in a big family hug before pulling yourselves together and heading out to the cars you were travelling in. Tony insisted you went separately so a single car wasn't swamped with news crews trying to get pictures. He also insisted that you went with him

The location of the press conference wasn't too far away, barely ten minutes in the car. And like Tony had said, you were all swamped by cameras and microphones as soon as you stepped out of the car. Everyone wanted a piece of the Avengers. You all spent ten minutes letting everyone get pictures and the other Avengers signed some merch that fans had bought along before the security escorted you all in.

You all sat in a row on a stage behind a podium while the guests were being seated and now it was a waiting game.

I don't suppose you can hear me, can you, Loki?  You tried to push your magic as hard as you could to reach him back at the tower. 10 minutes away wasn't that far for mental communication was it?

When you didn't get a reply you internationally sighed and turned your attention to the room and saw that most of the seats had been filled now which meant the show was about to start

Not 5 minutes after that Tony stepped up to the podium and started his speech that you zoned out until you heard your name mentioned and the audience applauding, which was your queue to take your place next to him

Tony introduced you and you waved to them all which got a lot of cheers and applause.

Then it was your time to answer some questions. Tony pointed to one of the reports. "What's it like living in the Avengers tower with the Avengers?"

"It's been the best time of my life. They're my family and there's never a quiet moment" you smiled to the lady who asked the question and Tony gave you a side hug.

You answered a couple more questions before Tony bid your goodbyes and you all filtered off the stage and back into the cars where you were driven to a very high end restaurant where you enjoyed a gorgeous lunch, you all chatted, took pictures with a few fans and you were back at the tower by 2pm

You went straight to your room to get your dress off and get some comfy clothes on so you could spend the rest of the day lounging around after a stressful morning.

Loki? You there?

Yes, I'm here. How did it go?

It wasn't too bad. You didn't hear me try to reach you, did you?

I must admit that I did hear you but I was so surprised to be able to hear you from that far away that by the time i answered I believe you were busy

Really? I managed to do it?

Yes and you were very clear too, well done

You couldn't help but smile at the achievement you had accomplished. You remembered that Loki mentioned he had read all of the books that you had bought for him all those weeks ago so you decided to take him some of yours to say thank you for everything he has done for you

Once you had gotten a nice little collection of them ready you went over the hall and knocked on his door.

"You can come in!" He called out so you opened the door and went in. "What's so important you can't tell me over telepathy?" He smiled to you and for a second you forgot what you were doing there. You never really noticed it before but he was a stunning man and it caught you off guard

"I..well that is...here" you handed out the books before you made yourself look like a total fool. "I thought you'd like something new to read. I remember you said you'd finished all your books a while ago"

"Oh" he said as he came over to you from where he was lounging on his bed. "Thank you, that's very thoughtful"

"I think we should go on an online shopping spree soon. You need more things in here" You noted the lack of pretty much anything in his room and you scolded yourself for not thinking about it sooner "and we could both do with some new books" you added with a grin
