Chapter 26 - A bit of normality

The following morning you went down to the kitchen for your breakfast and stood there looking at everything there was to offer and tears formed in your eyes. Never before had you been so glad to be able to choose between plain toast or jam and toast. Or Lucky Charms or Cornflakes. Or tea or coffee. And it just felt so overwhelming

"Hey, Princess, you okay? You've been stood there a while" Tonys voice startled you from behind which made you jump a mile. When he saw the state you were in he rushed right over to you and took you into his arms. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked you softly as he was rubbing your back for comfort in a hug

"I-I just don't know if i want toast or cereal" You sobbed into his chest feeling a little pathetic to be crying over something so quizzical.

"Well, why don't you have both?" He suggested as he pulled you away and wiped the tears from your face with the sleeve of his jumper

"That's a good idea" You chuckled and Tony helped you get your cereal, toast and coffee together and helped bring it all to your settee in the lounge. Once he was happy you were settled and wrapped up in a blanket he went back down to the labs to work on whatever his current project was.

Not long after Tony had left you and you had finished eating, Loki appeard in the lounge out of nowhere

"So, you dodged getting the cuff back on then?" You asked him smugly as he came to sit next to you

"Well, I'm not going to offer myself up for it" he smirked. "Do you want to practice today?"

"Yeh but can we stay here and have a chill day? I want to be around the people i care about" You asked

"Alright, we can do that if you want," Loki agreed with a smile. You loved that you could make him smile. He needed to smile more

You used your magic to conjure the TV remote from across the room. "See, practice" you grinned which got a chuckle out of him as you put on the first Harry Potter movie

"How are you getting on with conjuring long distance?" Loki asked taking no notice of the film

You concentrated on bringing your teddy from your room to your hands. Nothing happened.

"Think about how it looks, how it feels" Loki coached you

"Okay" you said in a whisper as you tried again and this time your teddy appeared in your hands. "Aha! I did it!" You cheered to yourself, a big grin of satisfaction on your face. 

"Well done. Now send it back" He instructed, watching intently

You eventually managed to send it back, or t least you hoped it had gone back to your room and Loki quickly teleported to your room to check you'd sent it to the right place. He appeared next to you a couple seconds later and you looked at him hopefully.

"So...? Did I do it?" You asked apprehensively

"You did!" He smiled

"Yes!" You squealed and pulled Loki in quickly for a celebration hug and you were so happy when he hugged you back, it just felt so right.

"Keep practising and when you can do it instantly we can move on to teleporting you" Loki told you when you had pulled away from each other, a soft smile gracing his lips. Not that you would let yourself notice too closely.

The next couple of weeks went by in a flash as you fell back into your normal routine with the team. You even went on 2 missions taking down other facilities similar to the one you had been held at when you were kidnapped and freeing the others that were being held there against their will.

You'd gotten to know Bucky better too and the two of you were like two peas in a pod. You found out that Bucky is Steves oldest friend from back in the 40s and he was taken by Hydra when he had fallen from the train when Steve had thought he had died. At least something good had come out of you being taken, getting them reunited.

"Loki, Lady Y/N" Thor greeted you one of the evening as he came into the lounge where you and Loki had been sat talking about how teleportation works now that Loki was happy enough with you being able to conjure items

"Brother, you seem to want to say something" Loki observed when Thor had stayed where he was, not saying anything, shuffling his feet slightly.

"Yes, brother. I do. Mother and Father have requested our presence on Asgard and they want us to bring Lady Y/N too" Thor said cautiously, obviously worried about how Loki was going to react

At the mention of being requested back on Asgard, Loki stiffened. You put your hand on his and his head snapped around to you.

"Hey, it's okay. Me and Thor will be there with you" you reassured him and his shoulders seemed to relax a bit, but not much.

Thor cleared his throat and you realised your hand was still on Loki's so you quickly retreated it and started blushing. Thor gave you a huge grin which you returned with a glare, the meddling busybody.  

"We will be leaving tomorrow" he chuckled as he left the lounge, shaking his head

"So, Asgard! Will you tell me about it?" You said to Loki as you leaned back in the settee, hoping he hadn't noticed the abnormally long time you were holding his hand

He smiled and sat back with you. "It's the most beautiful place you have ever seen. The palace is made of gold and the sky is always clear. We have many gardens at the palace and they're all filled with beautiful exotic flowers from all of the realms. It's a wonderful place to sit back with a book on a summer's day..." and he continued to tell you about his home into the night and you ended up falling to sleep leaning against his arm at some point while listening about the fairy tale place you'll be visiting, that was your home.

The following morning you didn't get to wake up on your own, instead you sleep was rudely interrupted by a busybody god.

"Lady Y/N! Are you awake?!" Thors loud voice boomed from the other side of your door. It startled you so much you fell off the side of your bed with a large thump. "Little One?" Thor asked as he came in and saw you on the floor. "What happened?" He asked worriedly.

"You happend" You grumbled half heartedly as he helped you up off the floor.

"My apologies but we really must leave soon" He smiled as he left you to get ready.

You packed a small bag with toiletries, a few pairs of underwear, clothes and your favourite book. You nearly forgot your teddy bear but ran back to grab it before you left your room. You couldn't be going to visit a whole new world without something to comfort you and soothe your anxiety.

While you were making your way down to the team, you started worrying about meeting Frigga and Odin. You wanted to be good enough for Frigga but you were worried you were going to say something to Odin and get thrown in the dungeons.

The team was waiting for you in the lounge to say goodbye to you. You were only going for two nights but they were protective of you which melted your heart.

"Be safe, Sorceress" Bucky teased as you gave him his hug goodbye

You made your way up to the roof where Loki and Thor were both waiting for you

"You might want to hold on" Loki said as he opened his arm for you to hold onto him, which you did

Thor lifted Mjolnir up into the air and called "Heimdall! Bring us home if you would!" And you were engulfed in the beautiful rainbow lights of the bifrost.
