Chapter 5 - Demons and atonement

"Well to start with, Loki is adopted. Well, more like he was taken by my father, Odin. During the war between Asgard and Jötunheim father found Loki abandoned and took him back to Asgard to raise him in hopes that it would one day bring peace between the two realms. So this means Loki is a Frost Giant, he is not of Asgardian blood. When Loki found out about this he was deeply hurt and let the frost giants, including his biological father Laufey, King of Jötunheim, into Asgard so he could kill them and prove himself to our father but Odin cast him out, practically disowning him. When he was cast out he was found by Thanos The Mad Titan who tortured and mind controlled Loki into doing his bidding. It was Thanos who sent Loki to Midgard to take over your home. Then back on Asgard after this attempted takeover of Midgard, Odin locked him away in the cells to atone for his wrong doings but when I went to visit him, he wasn't there. I demanded father tell me where Loki was and it turns out that Loki had been taken down to the dungeons and had been tortured even more by the guards so I told father to let me bring him here instead. He wasn't going to let me at first but mother helped persuade him" Thor explained with a heavy sigh

You had to hold back tears while Thor was telling you all of this and let out an "Oh god!" In a whisper when he had finished

"Yes, he has had a trying life but I couldn't let him stay on Asgard with what my father was being allowed done to him" Thor said remorsefully 

"No, of course not! God i wish I could give Odin a piece of my mind" you said angrily and the blue shimmer appeared at your hands which seemed to calm you down a bit

"I'm glad you understand Lady Y/N" Thor smiled to you and gave you a big hug

"Come on, we need to tell the others we have a guest" You sighed knowing full well how this was going to go down and not looking forwards to it one bit.

It turned out it went down even worse than you had thought it would.

When you reached the conference room with Thor in tow, you knocked and waited to be called in as you didnt know what business they were attending to in there

They all cheerily greeted Thor when they saw he was back from Asgard but when they saw the look on your faces, they knew something was up

"Oh just spit it out, Princess" Tony sighed to you, using the nickname he had given you

You looked at Thor who just nodded to say you could tell them. Thanks Thor, leave it to me!

"Okay, well I'm glad you're all sitting down for starters" you chuckled nervously, putting your hands behind your back because you didnt know what to do with them. "Now, don't be mad and let me finish before you start arguing" at that you saw all of their faces turn to worry and anticipation "but we have a guest who will be staying with us," you finished with a slight grimace. 

"And the guest is...?" Steve prompted you to continue when he saw the look on your face.

"Loki," but before you could continue with what you were going to say the whole room burst out into angry shouting and protests. You let out a sigh and looked at Thor who gave you a weak smile. "Just let them get it out if their system" you said quietly to him while you caught snippets of what everyone was shouting at you

After a good five minutes you were getting bored and a headache had started behind your eyes. "Alright!" You shouted loudly over the top of everyone which shut them up. They'd never heard you raise your voice before. "Now, if you'd let me explain..." and you went on to explain how New York was all Thanos' doing and Loki was innocent...kind of.

"Innocent my arse!" Clint roared. You knew Clint would take it badly as he had been under Loki's mind control through the ordeal

"Yeah, what Pigeon Man said!" Tony agreed getting a filthy look from Clint

"Look, I know you guys dont really want him here but Odin was torturing him back on Asgard and he doesnt deserve that! And he's my brother!" Thor pleaded with them

No one really wanted to argue against that but you knew none of them wanted him there

"Well...where is he?" Nat asked reluctantly

"I gave him the room opposite mine, seeing as though I knew none of you would want him here. He's in there" That got you some outrageous looks from the team. "And Tony, I need your credit card" you added

"What for?" He asked eyeing you

"Lady stuff" you lied through your teeth but you knew he wouldn't ask any more about it if you'd said that and you were right. He handed it out to you without another word and shooed you off. "Thank you. Now, try not to kill any Asgardian royalty while i pop out?" And with that you turned and left them all behind you looking rather astonished

In actual fact you'd gone out to get Loki some clothes and toiletries because the clothes you saw him in looked filthy and you doubted very much he was going to ask anyone for some clean ones. You also picked him up a few books you hoped he would like too, not that you knew what Asgardian royalty liked to read. 

When you arrived back at the tower you went straight up to your floor and hesitated in front of Loki's door before knocking it.

"Loki, its Y/N!" You called through when he didn't answer and knocked again. When he still didn't answer you sighed to yourself and added "I'll leave these out here for you when you deign to open the door". You placed the items on the floor outside his room and retreated back into your own, leaving the God of Mischief to brood in silence.

When tea time came around JARVIS let you know the others were ordering pizza so you made your way down to the lounge to get your order in. When you left your room you noticed the items in front of Lokis door has gone and you smirked to yourself. 

There was thick tension in the air when you arrived in the lounge but no one said anything about the Loki matter. It seemed to ease up once food arrived and you all started chatting about random crap

Once you had finished your food you put two slices of pizza on a plate and warmed them up in the microwave for 30 seconds before excusing yourself to you room, getting some odd looks from everyone except Thor who seemed to know where you were taking the pizza and gave you the most loving smile you'd ever seen which you returned.

You left the pizza on the floor outside Loki's room and called through to say there was food there for him, knowing he wouldn't answer the door and retired to your room for the rest of the night to binge watch your tv series
