Once we had all finished eating we let our stomachs settle down before heading out to the training grounds. No one likes indigestion.
The training grounds were very impressive and reminded you of a Roman Colosseum. There was a large open space in the middle of the grounds and had rows of wooden benches along the outside that moved up so the training area could be seen from all angles. That's not intimidating as all
There were multiple stands with various weapons and shields stacked and leaned against them. There were quite a lot of people there training already. Asgardians took their training seriously.
You made your way over to one of the stands with the group and Sif turned to you.
"I will be your opponent. What's your choice of weapon?" She asked you as she unsheathed her sword from her sheath
"I haven't practised with weapons. I usually use my magic" You admitted
"Here, I will teach you" she said as she handed you a sword from the stand. It wasn't as nice as her sword but this one was only a training sword and it would do the job.
She showed you how to hold it and how to use it efficiently and you picked it up quite quickly considering you'd never even picked up a sword before. Maybe it was your Asgardian blood and fighting was just in your blood.
You were also surprised that you could hold your own in a fight against her and Thor ended up calling the fight when it was obvious there wasn't going to be a winner any time soon.
You noticed blood on Sif from where you had managed to nick her with your sword. You walked over to her and shook her hand. "Here, let me heal this for you" you said as your hand glowed blue and you healed the cuts on her
"Healing magic, that's a strong magic to have. Im sure if you fought me all out with your magic you'd have won" She commented once her cuts were healed
"Thanks, I enjoyed it. And thank you for teaching me to use a sword. I might have to get myself one when I get back to Midgard" You smiled to her.
"Here, a gift for you" She said as she handed you something that looked like a thick pen. "Hold it out and click it"
So you did and it extended out into a slightly smaller sword than the one you had been using through training.
"It's amazing, Sif. Thank you!" You smiled and gave her a hug which she was surprised at at first but hugged you back when the surprise passed. She must not get many hugs, you thought.
"Would you like me to teach you to fight with daggers?" Loki asked when Sif and I had pulled out of our hug.
"Yeh, I'd love that!" And he smiled at your enthusiasm and showed you over to three target dummies and he handed you a dagger. It wasn't anything flashy at first glance but on closer inspection you saw that the blade's hilt was a dull gold metal and the blade itself had some sort of rune etched into it.
You passed it between your hands a few times to get an idea of the balance of it and nearly dropped it on the last pass. "Oops" you chuckled nervously.
"Dear Odin, please be careful. Hold it like this" he said and took the dagger from you, holding the tip of the blade and cocking his arm back behind his in an overhead throw, before passing it back.
"Like this?" You asked and copied what he showed you
"Yes, correct. Now, when throwing the blade, you need to release it at the right time like this and try not to flick your wrist too much" and he whirled to the right and threw the blade at the dummy that hit its mark through its head. "Now you try," he grinned.
You took up the stance Loki had before he moved and tried to copy. It wasn't a complete failure, you managed to hit the dummy...in the leg.
"Here, try this," he placed the dagger back in your hand, came behind you and wrapped his arm around yours and held your wrist. Heat rose to your cheeks at how close he was to you and his touch on your wrist. He swept your arms around and you released the dagger and this time it landed in the dummy's chest.
"Oh! Oh my god! I hit it!" You shouted with glee and jumped around, clapping your hands like a child.
Loki chuckled at your reaction "Yes you did, my dear. Lets go again"
You continued to practice for another half an hour and by the time you had finished you were mostly hitting the dummy in the correct place.
"I think that's enough training today. We should go and freshen up before dinner" Loki eventually said
"Yeh, alright" You agreed and then you realised how much you had been sweating this morning. Yeh, you definitely needed a shower. No, wait, a bath. Eugh
Loki left you at your door and you went and turned on the taps to draw yourself a bath as you got out of your training clothes
Just as you were about to get into the bath loud bells started ringing through the palace which made you jump back a step from the bath. They sounded like bells of alarm.
You used your magic to conjure your super suit onto you, thanking the gods you bought it with you. You weren't sure if you'd be able to conjure between realms yet and you never know when you're going to run into trouble.
You ran out of your room to see Loki leaving his room in his armour too.
"What's going on?!" You shouted over the sound of the bells
"The palace is under attack!" He shouted back to you
You saw he was about to say something else but you cut him off before he even got the chance. "Don't you dare tell me to go back into my room! Im coming with you"
You saw the internal battle he was having with himself. Eventually he shouted back "Fine, but stay close" and you both took off for the front of the palace
The scene before you was chaos. People and guards were running around trying to evacuate citizens away from the fight which appeared to be against some other humanoid beings but you didn't know enough about the nine realms to know where they came from. You made a note to yourself to learn more about them. You were Asgardian after all.
