Chapter 16 - Its go time

Life went back to normal for a while after your initiation. You would train with Nat and Loki, hang out with the team and you even started up The Avengers Official online social media pages, which you loved doing to no end and it gave you something to do when you weren't busy training. 

It didn't take long to become verified on all social media platforms when you got individual photos of the team and group ones to send to the dev's as proof that you were the real deal. And the fans were loving the content you were throwing out there for them! They couldn't get enough of it. Your favourite picture by far was a collage you had put together of the team. You managed to sneak one of Clint when you spotted him in the vents, the one of Tony and Bruce was hilarious because you caught them in the labs and Bruce was getting frustrated at Tony, Nats was one you caught of her while she was training, Steves was one when he was trying go use a laptop (and failing) and you made Thor pose for one at the top of the tower holding Mjolnir in the air, a beautiful New York City skyline behind him at sunset.

Normalcy was interrupted, however, just under a week after you had the initiation press release when Tony was notified of a possible terror attack in the city.

"Come on, Princess, it's time to see your suit!" He said while you were all chilling in the lounge.

"Really?!" You jumped up in excitement. "I have a suit?!"

"Well of course, you can't be a superhero and not have a super suit!" He said, his eyes gleaming with excitement as you both rushed off down to the lab where he was housing it. "Ta da!" He said as he presented you with a teal shaded body suit that looked like it belonged to a warrior goddess. It was obvious that he had taken some design ideas from Thor's Asgardian armour and you fell in love with it instantly.

"Tony! It's amazing!" You squealed as you jumped at him to give him a hug. His mind was projecting how happy he was that you liked it

"Well come on! Get changed! It's go time!" He said as he hurried off to go and get ready himself.

You used your magic to change into it to save you having to go up to your room before meeting the team on the roof. A little trick Loki had taught you at the beginning of the week. It was a really useful bit of magic if you were in a hurry.

As you were making your way up to the roof, Loki got your attention in your mind

I hear you're off on your first mission. Be careful out there

I will do. I've had an awesome teacher. Try not to burn the place down while we are gone?

Im sure I can manage

It was sweet how much he cared. It made you feel warm and fuzzy. He wouldn't dare admit it openly, but you knew deep down he did really.

On the Quinjet everyone was buckled in and ready to go, so off you all went.

"Alright team, there's not a lot of information to go on here but there's been chatter that something's going to happen at a parade in the city. We will patrol the area and keep an eye out for anything suspicious" Tony was saying as your comms were being handed out. "And, you know, don't die"

The Quinjet landed on top of one of the buildings near where the main bulk of the parade would be. Tony, Thor, Nat and Clint were positioned on the roofs of some of the lower buildings, you and Steve were on the ground and Bruce was waiting in the Quinjet away from civilians, hoping the Hulk wouldn't be needed, but he was there if he was.

Everything seemed to be going smoothly for a while until you heard Nat over the comms about 15 minutes in

"Suspicious behaviour from three men at my 10 o'clock" she notified us

"Cap, check it out? Y/N make your way over there but try not to draw any attention" Tonys voice came over the comms

Then all hell broke loose

You had nearly made it to where Nat had indicated the suspects to be when the gun fire started. Panic erupted in the civilians and everyone was running away from where it had come from, making it hard for you to continue on your path.

Loki had taught you how to use your magic to hover in the air (you hadn't quite mastered moving in the air other than through short bursts yet) so you lifted yourself off the ground to get a better view of the situation.

"Guys, there's at least 5 of them all with guns but I can't get a read on how heavily armed they are!" Steves voice informed you all

"Nat, Y/N! You two get the civilians out of there!" Tony instructed as you spotted the location of the shooters. You boosted your way over to them with your magic and helped those closest civilians to them into the cover of nearby buildings, using your shields to keep them safe as you were escorting them.

Then came a deafening BOOM from across the street and as you turned to see what had happened you were met with a car flying at you at high speed. You just about managed to get a shield in front of you before it collided with you. It protected you from being directly hit but the force of it sent you flying backwards and directly into a brick wall of a building.

"Son of a bitch!" You gasped as the wind was being knocked out of you and you slid down the wall, rubbing the back of your head.

"Language!" Cap called over the comms

"Oh yeah?! You get smacked with a whole ass car and see how you like it!" you grumbled as you got to your feet and brushed yourself off, looking and your hand you had been rubbing your head with to find blood on your hand which made you groan

"You alright, Princess?" Tony asked

"I'm good. I think a car exploded" you called over the comms before jumping back in and getting the last of the civilians out of danger

"Clints been hit!" Nat shouted over the comms

"Get him to the jet! We've rounded up the guys with the guns and they are being taken away!" Cap called to you all as you were looking around for where Clint and Nat were.

You saw her crouched down in the middle of the road about 20 feet away and you started to run over to her. "Guys, he's not in good shape!" She called as you were just reaching them.

You had to fight not to scream or cry when you got there. There was blood everywhere and a big gaping hole in the upper right of Clints chest.

"Oh god!" You gasped as you kneeled down to him. He wasn't awake, that wasn't good. "Oi, Bird man! Don't die on us now!" You shouted to him and tapped him on the cheek a little forcefully which roused him. Then he yelled in pain.

The feelings that were going through you were too much. You weren't ready for one of the team to be so badly injured on your first mission. The wave of emotion that flowed over you was like nothing you had experienced before and your hands started to glow blue as they instinctively moved over where he had been hit. All noise seemed to lower in your world until there was silence as your magic flowed from your hands and pooled around where the blood was coming from on Clints chest. You were trying to put a shield around the wound to keep the rest of the blood in him, but that's not what happened at all.

Then it was over and you were nearly deafened by the noise of what was going on around you all came back to you at once.

"What was that?!"

"Y/N? Are you alright?"

You couldn't tell who was saying what as it all mixed into one and you suddenly felt exhausted to the point where you couldn't hold your body up any more and you slumped over to the side and your vision went dark and you passed out
