Chapter 13 - Now the real work starts

After you had a small work out and built up a decent sweat for an hour you, went back up to your room to have a shower and climbed back into bed to sleep before your training with Loki later on

When the time came to your training session you both went to find Tony to ask him to take the cuff off Loki. You weren't surprised to find him stuck down in the labs with Bruce

"What do you mean i said yes to this?!" Tony was outraged when you told him about the deal you struck with him earlier which would have been funny if you weren't trying to get him to do something you knew he didn't want to.

"She's telling the truth, Tony. You did agree to it. You can't back out of it now" Bruce backed you even though you knew he severely disliked Loki, you didn't need to be a mind reader to know that.

Tony looked between the three of you with a look of defeat and pulled his phone out of his pocket and with a few taps the cuff unlocked itself.

"You come back here when you're done so I can put it back on, okay?" He told the both of you sternly before shooing you away so he could take his rage out on his work. He didn't have to tell you twice

In the elevator you turned to Loki who was absolutely beaming. It was the first time you'd seen him genuinely happy and it filled your heart. "So, how does it feel?" You asked him nudging his arm

"I feel like me again" he smiled back at you which made the smile grow on your face even more

"Im happy for you" you grinned as you both left the elevator and entered the training room and your first real lesson began

The two of you had spent so long training that Tony ended up coming to find you, worried Loki had run off somewhere. The look of relief on Tonys face when he found you both still down there was priceless

"What's wrong?" You had asked him when he walked in

"What's wrong?! You've been down here for three hours" he had said exasperatedly and then put the cuff back on Loki

In your training session you had learnt how to read minds and lower your own defences. Loki was impressed with how quickly you had managed to pick it up and how far you could already read someone's mind from. He also taught you how to summon your magic to form a shield around you to protect you from physical threats.

By the time you were back off up to the lounge you realised how tired it had made you. You nearly fell asleep standing up in the elevator and Loki had to catch you from falling over

"You really need to go and rest. Using that much magic for the first time like that will have severely depleted it" He said to you, a look of concern for you on his face. It would have been sweet if it had properly registered in your head but you were too tired for that and he ended up helping you to your room before saying goodnight.

The next week you spent your training days alternating between magic lessons and training with Nat and you could feel your magic growing stronger and at some point Loki speculated that someday you might even be as strong as he was. The joy that bought you was amazing. So much so that your whole body started to glow blue which made you giggle at the playfulness of the magic inside you.

He had taught you how to cast illusions and move items that you could visually see and it was exhilarating to be able to do those things. But he was very adamant that you had to practice outside of your lessons too, which you promised you would do.

About a week after you had started properly training with your magic, something magical happened. Well, it wasn't real magic but it felt like it to you.

"Hey, Princess, you got a sec?" Tony called you from where you were sitting at the table from where he was in the lounge

You looked up like a deer in headlights and wondered what you had done now. Since learning to be able to move things with your magic you had been playing pranks on the team like moving chairs from underneath them when they were about to sit down. All in the name of bettering your magic control of course.

"You're not in trouble" Tony chuckled when he saw the look on your face so you went over to him and mockingly bowed to him while saying "In that case, anything for you, my lord" which got a few sniggers from the team.

Tony rolled his eyes at you. You could have sworn you almost heard it, it was such an exaggerated eye roll. "Sit your ass down, you clown" he added with a chuckle of his own so you took a seat next to him. "Well, you've been here for a month and a half, roughly, and it's time to make it official"

You just looked at him blankly having absolutely no idea what he was talking about which, got you another eye roll. "You! As an Avenger. We need to announce it to the world! The press release has all been set up for this weekend"

"What? Really? It's really happening?!" You were so excited it felt like your whole body was vibrating with excitement. 

"Yes. You deserve it and Nat has said that she isn't really teaching you in your sessions any more it's just training and you and Reindeer Games have made good progress so we think you're ready" he explained and you used your magic to quickly scan his thoughts and he meant what he was saying and he was so proud of you. It nearly made you cry the amount of pride that was coming from him. "You're already part of the family, now let's make it official" he added and stuck his hand out for you to shake but you ignored it and launched yourself at him giving him the biggest hug ever and you could feel in your mind how much it meant to him

When you finally pulled away you saw his eyes were slightly damp which he was trying to hide and the rest of the team came over to you individually to congratulate and hug you and the pride beamed from each and every one of them

God, this weekend. That's only 3 days away. What am I going to wear? What am I meant to do or say?! Your mind was racing with all of these questions and when you turned to see Loki who was shaking his head with a grin. You thought that was strange but then it clicked

Are you reading my mind?  You thought loudly, seeing if your hunch was right

No, not reading your mind, hearing what you're projecting. Congratulations, you just advanced to the next stage in mind magic. You heard Loki's voice in your head and you put a hand to your mouth in shock

So, can we talk like this all the time now? You asked

Only if both parties are open to it. You can put extra layers of protection up in your mind to prevent being able to hear someone trying to talk to you in your mind

That's so coooool!

"Are you okay Y/N? You've been stood there for a while now" Nat asked which brought you out of your conversation with Loki in your head

You turned to her beaming with joy, "I'm fantastic!"

And congratulations, Y/N. You deserve it
