I am here to tell you that they lied to you
Not about 2 and 2 together equal
Or when they signed The Declaration of Independence
I'm here to tell you that love is something they lied to you about
It isn't black and white, nor is it gray, it's all the colors, and none of them
It's a vibrant explosion it's chaos and confetti, it's the crunch of an ice cream cone and tears you cry at night
It's an ache and an itch you can't scratch
They told me I'd find a girl to live and marry her, that she'd be the only one for me
This is a lie I was told, that understanding love between two people was the norm
That only having eyes for one person would be all that would happen
Movies and media and magazines all portray this ideal girl for the guy, guy for the girl.
But I am here to tell you that they lied to you
Love is tangles of hair and spaghetti with sauce, it's a mix and match and a jack of all trades
I am here to tell you, you may love more than just one person, and they have lied to you about it
About soul mates, that not all soul mates are romantic, or even intimate on a spectrum, they are perhaps meaningful in ways completely different.
There is nothing wrong in choosing to love only one person, but it's wrong to punish social beings to love more, responsibly
Of course we drown in debates and white noise and all those debates about what true love is and isn't
I am here to tell you that for every person, that's different and that is okay
I am here to tell you that they lied about sex and drugs and all the evils in the world
That you shouldn't question authority
But do not be angry, be understanding
We as a society are scared to give the tools and the knowledge in our most dangerous minds
The young, and the curious...
Don't take my words and only use what you see fit, understand them as a whole
Understand these are not just lies, they are accepted facts, perhaps more
But this is not about that
I am here to tell you, we can find new meanings
That love between two people is okay, between more is okay two, responsibly
What that means will be your own findings, but do not play with hearts intertwined
As you'll find you'll have many, many more problems
I am here to tell you, you can learn, and grow
Because all those things you learned in school, just might be less useful than you think
