Empty Space

Do you have a place for me in your heart?

In the cracks or crevices?

In the holes or the scratches?

Maybe in the pockets where you keep your matches?

Maybe in the attic, or the floor?

What about the clock or the door?

Do you have a place for me in your heart?

Maybe in the pictures you place face down?

Or in the view the windows capture?

What about in the stairs or the ceiling?

Is there no empty space in your heart?

What about in the gaps or gushes

The crooked portions that you keep pushing?

Do you not have a place in your heart for me?

Neither here, nor there?

Not at night, not at day?

Not in mourning, not in joy?

Not yesterday, not tomorrow?

Where is the space you promised me?

There is nothing here, why is there still no room?

There are no walls, no curtains, no windows

Why is there still no room for me? No space too small?

Did you ever think I would ever ask you for a spot in your heart?

No matter how small?

Where is the spot for you?

I see no room, in a place of empty space

It's a taunting feeling with no face
