Exceptions

You were always the exceptions I made

And it isn't just you that was the exception

It was people like you

People that made me miss you more

But I can't tell you that

I don't think you'd understand

I don't even float around in those dreams of yours

Not in your words

Not in those nights I was worried sick

But I think the exceptions I made should not be regretted

Maybe I don't even need to learn from them

They are part of who I am now, truly.

But those exceptions I made were because I saw you could do no wrong in my eyes

That is the flaw my heart has lent to my greater weakness
