By Any Other Name...

I will not call you by name and won't need to

But you are the periods at the ends of my sentences.

The pauses in my breath.

You are a part of me I will no longer deny

But you will no longer chain me or bind me, no

I will teach you the meaning of love, of kindness

Even if you claw on glass and shriek at the thought

You and I are one, and I will no longer run from you

I will love you, as I have learned to love the deepest wounds

But you will not change, nor will you leave, I will only teach you

I will not give you a name, I will not give you the pleasure

But you will know when I call you, when I talk about you

The gentle clawing of my insides, knowing your desperation and desire for chaos

You need not change, only learn

That I will sooner see you burn than get your way

Now turn your face, lock the keys, and walk away

We are one, and you will see that as you may

But we will grow, for the future and today
