Thank you for your service is all we can say

To the many lives lost this way

You're a hero, a triumph, a way of life

Yet when you return home, all you feel is strife

Thank you for your service

As you're lying on a sidewalk for the country you served

As you hoped the life path you took would begin to curve

Promises of freedom ,valor, and honor

Fighting in wars with no clear enemy

It's the world at our door step ready for the taking

In which the world you know undergoes a breaking

Thank you for you service

AS you have nightmares of war

You scream and shout no more

But all we can say is thank you for your service

For the price you pay a toll in blood and fear

Yet as you come home, where do you go from here?
