You stood with your back to the door, letting the event sof the evening soak in. You scrolled through your messages but still nothing from Josh. Surprisingly, you did find one from Bryce inviting you to another party.
You werent sure you were up to going back out though it might be fun but starting your new job in the morning meant getting better sleep… especially if you were gonna endure Tayler. Ugh, Tayler. You still couldn't believe you'd accepted the job under him at his Dad's restaurant. Tomorrow was going to be awful either way, so might as well enjoy tonight!
Your mom snuck up on you, although unintentionally:
"I guess I owe you an apology about Chase out there."You snapped out of the outfit changes swirling through your mind:
"Huh?"Mom: "You and the boy next door seemed awfully cozy for someone you were sure it wouldn't work out with."
You: "Or that's gay, right?"
Your mom seemed embarrassed to have assumed that so you let her off the hook:
"I'm just kidding, Mom. But honestly it was just a hug. We are definitely just friends."Mom flashed a knowing smile: "We'll see about that."
You: "No, Mom. 100% just friends-"
Your protest was interrupted by several messages coming through at once. Your Mom just laughed as you raced upstairs to check in private if Josh finally messaged. She assumed it was Chase already messaging you and took it as a sign she was right about the two of you.
You were honestly still discouraged that Jaden hadn't called you back since he hung up so abruptly yhe other night and even more discouraged about Josh. You couldn't figure out why he would wait so long when he was the one who seemed so eager to approach you at the cafe. Boys really were confusing.
You needed to shake things up a bit and decided to pick the most harmless lookong guy. Earlier you would have sworn it was Kio, but that backfired. Blake was super cute and looked sweet. You broke down and finally texted him back.
For something that was supposed to be harmless, it made your heart race. You'd never been so bold as to invite someone out that you'd just met. In fact, scratch that, someone you haven't even met yet! You had to tey something new though. You'd played it safe with Jaden and Josh and it was starting to feel like you were getting played or at least strung along. You made a promise to yourself that you weren't going to answer a message from either one of them unless they led with something that made sense of what felt an awful lot like games.
You dug around your closet and settled on a racy outfit but it was no worse than what you'd seen other girls wear last time you partied with Bryce.
If we go to the party with Bryce as a friend, something unexpected will happen. Should we go?
