23: Tayler

When your alarm went off the next morning, you groaned awake. You were painfully aware that you'd only had 4 hours of sleep. You rolled over with a smile spreading across your face as the sleepiness was replaced with memories of the kiss you'd shared with Josh last night. You'd cut the night short before things escalated too far, but what DID happen was simply wonderful.

Your mother's voice calling up the stairs pulled you from your daydream:
"Sweetheart, someone is at the door for you." 

You pulled yourself out of bed and called over the railing:
"Come on up, Chase. I'm just trying to find the will to get ready for this stupid job."

You quickly got dressed in black pants and a black button up. It wasnt the most exciting outfit but it was the uniform and at least fit you well. You were running your brush through your hair when a voice laughed behind you: 
"Yeah, I heard your boss is a real jerk."

You spun around and came face to face with Tayler! His face was smiling and it almost made you feel bad for the dig you made... almost.

Tayler: "I thought I'd give you a ride to work? Maybe grab coffee on the way in?"

You: "I told you I could drive myself, Tayler."

Tayler: "C'mon. Just gimme a break. My treat?"

You knew if you pitched a fit then it would start a fight with your Mom as well which was the last thing you were in the mood for. You pulled your hair up and then slipped on your shoes before relenting: 
"Fine."

At the counter a cute girl couldn't take her eyes off of Tayler but he didn't even seem to notice. That was a first. When you were dating he would openly flirt with any girl who spoke to him right in front of you. You couldn't help but wonder if this was an act to suck you back in or his attempt at being friends.

Before you could speak up, Tayler ordered your favorite frozen mocha and turned to wink at you, proud of himself for remembering your order. You laughed it off:
"It's just coffee. Don't get ahead of yourself, buddy."

You were surprised to find yourself laughing with who you'd considered the enemy the last almost year as you walked into work with Tayler and your almost empty frappe. 

Tayler handed you a pad of paper, pen and an apron before heading behind the bar to make morning announcements. You noticed a few smirks from a group of girls standing by the bar. It felt odd that they'd be talking about you already but decided to shake it off. They didn't even know anything about you so it must not be directed at you.

Besides, they were gonna be your coworkers as long as you lasted with this job. You were determined to get along with everyone… even Tayler.

We do encounter some drama during the shift but is Tayler part of the problem or does he stick up for us?
