*CHASE'S POV*
He knew there was a lot more he needed to talk to his best friend about but the text from his mom was a lot more urgent.
When he walked into his house, his Mom was standing in the living room, waiting for him. She was home hours early and his shoulders shuttered at the thought of what she could have walked in on if she'd come home this early the day before. The day his Dad came home early had been a close call but yesterday they had been in a full make-out session at this hour.
His mom handed him the two soda bottles that had been left on the coffee table:
"If you're going to have company over can you at least clean up after yourself?"Chase felt a sigh of relief exit his lungs:
"That's why you called me home? Because I left a mess in the living room? Mom! I was in the middle of something important. Couldn't this have waited?"His Mom seemed like she was working up the nerve to say more but instead just warned:
"If your dad had come home to this, he would have been furious with you."Chase: "Mom... it's literally two empty bottles of soda. I'm sorry that you and this stuffy house will just fall to pieces because of two single pieces of garbage out of the place but I will pick it up now, okay?"
His mom took a deep breath:
"Maybe it'd be better if you and Jaden hung out at his place from now on."Chase froze in place as he felt his soul leave his body:
"Wh- Why do- How did you know?"His mom sat down and nervously started fixing the pleats in her perfectly tailored dress:
"I'm not going to tell your father but if you're going to sneak your boyfr- your friend in while we are at work every day then he is going to end up finding out."Chase: "I'm going to tell him."
She argued against it in a manner that was so calm it was almost disturbing:
"Maybe you shouldn't. We are all finally getting along. Can you just keep it that way?"Chase: "Just so we're clear... you want me to keep living a lie so that you and dad are more comfortable in this sick twisted Stepford family you're trying so hard to hold onto? No thanks."
With that, he stomped into the kitchen to toss the bottles in the trash. He then bulled back into the living room to grab his keys past his mother who still sat calmly on the sofa. He took off out the door with no idea where he was headed.

*JADEN'S POV*
He sat in his room spinning a small, foam ball into the air before catching it. He had a miniature basketball hoop hanging over his closet door that fit the toy ball perfectly. When he was deep in nervous thought, he liked to lay in bed fidgeting with it instead. He was distracted by his step-sister calling up the stairs and dropped the ball on his face.
Addi: "Jaden. Someone's at the door for you!"
He hurried downstairs, half expecting Addi to be playing a prank on him but instead came face to face with Chase standing in his living room. Jaden led him upstairs to his room and shut the door before finally asking:
"What are you doing here?"Chase's face was still red with fury as he shook out:
"My m- mom. She knows."Chase sat back down, not really even sure the bed was safely underneath him but unable to stand anymore. Jaden sat down next to him and put his arm around Chase:
"I can tell by the look on your face that it didn't go well."Chase let out a laugh that made Jaden uneasy:
"Didn't go well? No Jaden, it didn't go well."Jaden: "We knew it'd come out eventually."
Chase carried on with his rant, completely disregarding anything Jaden could have said:
"She actually suggested that I stay in the closet so I don't make anyone feel uncomfortable. Can you believe that?"Jaden: "I'm sure it was a shock to her but-"
Chase continued:
"I mean, God forbid anyone in that perfect little house ever feel even the slightest discomfort the whole word might end."Jaden silenced Chase by pushing his lips against his. Once the room stopped spinning the things Jaden had said, finally registered in Chase's head and he answered:
"No. I don't think it was a shock. She acted like she's known all along and the only reason she said anything was because she thought my dad might be close to finding out and she wanted to make sure that didn't happen."Jaden: "Babe, why don't you stay for dinner."
Chase: "Your parents wouldn't mind?"
Jaden: "Not at all. You can spend the night if you want a break from your house for a while."
Chase looked shocked at the offer so Jaden explained:
"My parents know about you and my family is incredibly chill about- well everything."Jaden took Chase's hand and led him downstairs, introducing him to his family:
"This is my Mom, my step-dad, and my step-sister, Addison."Addison corrected him:
"C'mon, bro. They've been married 3 years now. You can just refer to me as your sister."*END JADEN'S POV*
