You walked into the station and Josh squeezed your hand in comfort as you looked around for the desk of the officer who'd told you to meet him there. There were several empty desks and even more cops wandering around, looking busy but no one stopped to greet you. Suddenly, Josh's grip on your hand became so tight that you turned towards him only to come face to face with the reason.

Nessa: "Hi, Joshua."

You recognized her from the photo that used to sit where yours now did on Josh's dresser. She was so much prettier in person even if she looked quite a bit different. Her hair was darker and her lips poutier covered in way more makeup. She was absolutely gorgeous and made you feel completely inadequate just standing across from her. Yep, that was definitely Nessa. What you couldn't piece together was why she was here in this police station... and why she was calling your boyfriend, 'Joshua'. The way she said it like it presumed ownership over him, just made your skin crawl.

Josh spoke through gritted teeth:
"What are you doing here, Nessa?"

Nessa: "Handling legal matters? What does one normally do at a police station?"

Josh's tone snapped as if you warn her that he didn't have the patience for the usual games he was used to getting from her: "Nessa!"

Nessa: "Oh, calm down. I pressed charges against Noah, silly."

Josh: "For what? Since when is getting his best friend's girlfriend to be dumb enough to hook up with him a crime?"

Nessa's voice cracked a bit before she lifted her chin and regained her powerhouse facade:
"And like usual, you don't have any idea what you're talking about."

The confidence that oozed off of this stunningly beautiful girl was intimidating. She managed to take up all the attention in the room with very little effort. Two different cops had bumped into various pieces of office furniture because they were distracted by staring at her and she certainly had gained all of Josh's attention... even if at the moment it was negative attention. You were just left too stunned to speak up.

Nessa seemed to finally notice you clinging to Josh's side almost hiding behind his arm. Normally, you were outgoing and spoke up but the events of the night with your family, worry about Josh finding out your secret with Chase, the moment with him being interrupted, and just dealing with what you were here to deal with left your nerves completely on edge. You could take one look at her and know that showing any weakness was a big mistake but you were just feeling too vulnerable to deal with someone so visibly intent on putting you in your place before she ever even spoke to you.

She smiled at you in a way that made the hairs on the back of your neck stand at attention. You tightened your grip around Josh's arm as she mocked you:
"Who's this?"

Josh: "She's my girlfriend."

Hearing the word 'girlfriend' roll off of Josh's tongue seemed to light a fire in Nessa. She was looking for a fight and you didn't have it in you to oblige. Not today. Josh didn't seem to struggle with the same feeling as he stepped closer to her as if to challenge her into walking away. Instead, she smirked in your direction:
"I guess he has a type after all."
