50: Rescued

Josh leaned across the bar and whispered loud enough for only you and Emma to hear:
“I’m gonna guess that’s the ex-boyfriend?”

Emma giggled: “Yup.”

That settled that debate. The trio definitely knew Tayler and you used to date and that must have something to do with why they seemed to have it out for you. Though you couldn't quite figure out why. Suddenly it occurred to you, how did Josh know that?

You: “Wait… how did you know that was my ex?”

Josh squeezed your hand then brought it to his lips and kissed your wrist. Your heart stopped everytime his lips touched aby part your bod but you also heard Emma’s breath catch in jealousy.

Josh casually reminded you:
“Baby, you told me your ex was your boss. Besides he’s crazy jealous that I’m touching you right now.”

You: "What? No he's not."

You pulled your hand away and playfully pushed him. He shocked you by grabbing your hand firmly to stop you. He pulled you back, abruptly until you were within an inch of his face trying to catch your heart from beating right out of your chest. He looked over your shoulder and whispered against your lips:
“Trust me…”

Before you had the opportunity to analyze whether you should, Josh pushed a kiss against your shocked grin. You let out a muted gasp as he squeezed you even tighter to his chest until you melted into the embrace. Time stood still for you but his soft lips were only pressed against yours for just a short moment. Just a moment but it was long enough.

Josh pulled away as Tayler’s voice boomed:
“WTF are you doing? You still have to finish-”

Emma interrupted by lifting the basket of rolled up silverware towards him:
“All done boss. You said she was off when she finished, right?”

Tayler grabbed the basket and rolled his eyes:
“Whatever. Be back here first thing tomorrow.”

Emma: "Wow."

You mouthed the words thank you  to Emma then turned to Josh:
"I'm probably gonna pay for that later."

Josh: "Nah. He doesn't have it in him. Trust me."

You: "I do."

And you meant it. You didn't know when you had developed such a reliance on Josh and maybe it was a mistake to trust in it but it was too late now. This boy had your heart by the hand and there was absolutely nothing you could do about it.

Emma: "You should have seen Tayler's face!! He's probably in the back room pouting."

You: "He's not gonna make the rest of your night miserable is he. Emma?"

Emma: "I know how to handle Tayler. I'm the one girl he can't seem to get his hands on so he is always on his best behavior. "

Josh grabbed your hand again and dragged you out of the restaurant as you both burst into laughter. You climbed into his car and took off into the night. 

You have a great night with Josh but the next boy you hang out with will be Noah or Jaden. Take your pick.
