89: I Remember

Chase let out a deep sigh of frustration:
"Jaden and I are trying to be friends. Or going to try. I don’t even know.”

It was clear Jaden was just as confused about his love life as you were. You could completely relate to Chase avoiding texting back but you also knew that hiding from your feelings just because they are messy and maybe even directed at more than one person will end in disaster.

You: “Friends text, ya know.”

Chase looked down at you and smirked:
“Oh shut up.”

You: “I’m serious. If you want things to be a certain way you just have to make it happen even if it feels impossible and then eventually it’ll just be that way.”

Chase sat up and looked at you so intensely that it made your stomach lurch forward. You hung off his every word as he asked:
“You really believe that?”

You stumbled over your words, not sure if you were ready to mean what you preached but absolutely positive you wanted him to make another move:
“I mean, sometimes, yeah. But if you don’t try how will you ever know.”

Chase tossed his hands out and then up to his head to run them through his soft, black hair. He pulled at the ends as he exasperated:
“God!!! How can you not remember?”

You suddenly were very confused because that wasn’twhat you expected him to say at all: “Remember wh-”

Your confusion was interrupted by Chase crashing his lips into yours. You almost squeaked a little at the shock of how forceful and urgent his lips pressed against yours Any resolve of stopping, completely melted away as memories of the night in the car flooded your mind. 

You melted into his touch as he grabbed you by the loops on the waist of your jeans and pulled you closer. Your body clung to him as if no matter how closely the curves of your body fit into his, it just wasn't close enough. His hands ran up your back, softly until his fingers tangled in your hair. He softly closed his hands at the nape of your neck to grip your hair and it caused a surge of adrenaline to pump through every blood vessel of your body.

The flashbacks of Noah that had taken up permanent residence in the back of your mind, had finally washed away and all you had was this moment. How much you wanted Josh, how hurt you were by him leaving all just faded out of your consciousness as the uncertainty you'd been hiding about your feelings for Chase, his love for you, whether you'd ever tell him you knew, and even the kiss you'd thought you'd only dreamed up completely filled your thoughts. They raced by so fast that before things progressed too far you stopped and breathlessly asked:
“Why didn’t you tell me?”

Chase turned and sat back on the bed:
“Because you seemed like you wanted to forget.”

You stood completely dumbstruck as he continued, unable to make eye-contact:
“I think I’m in love with you.”

How far do we want things to go tonight? Regardless, we still will be given a chance to choose who we want and all will work out :)
