37: Chaden?

Jaden pulled away from the kiss he and Chase were embraced in when he saw your shadow in the doorway. He looked as horrified to see you as you did to see what youd just seen. You mirrored his expression as you slowly backed away from the doorway.

You mumbled out an attempt at words but your stuttering failed you:
"I- I-"

Chase heard your voice and his expression went from confusion to panic as he turned to see you white as a ghost about to run. He jumped up:
"Wait. I can explain. Please don't-"

It was too late... You had already turned to take the stairs at a gallop and crossed the yard at a dead-sprint. Chase made it as far as his front door to see you hop in your car. He called out for you one last time as you backed out of the driveway and disappeared over the horizon. You were gone fast enough to ensure he wouldn't see which way to follow.

How could he do this to you? He knew you had feelings for Jaden and even if it was all a mess right now what kind of best friend makes a move on the guy you- Wait. WAIT! They had both told you there was a complicated past between them. What if Chase was the one who cheated on Charli not the other way around... with Jaden?!

It didnt matter. It hurt too much to try to work out so you just kept driving. You didn't know where you were headed until you ended up in front of the only place you knew to find him...

You saw his car in the parking lot towards the back and thanked God he was so predictable. You tried to talk yourself out of going inside the gym to hunt him down and looking psychotic or just leaving him a note on his windshield to call you when a comfortable, familiar voice behind you call:
"Hey?"

You turned around and saw Noah heading your way fresh from a locker room shower. His hair was dripping down his neck and had already caused the collar of his tee-shirt to dampen. He must have been freezing in this weather.

You suddenly realized how creepy you must look:
"I'm sorry. I should have called-"

Noah seemed confused but still wore a smile that said he was happy to see you:
"Did we have plans? I'm confused."

You tried to make an excuse but drew a blank:
"No. I'm just- I'm stupid. Ignore me."

Noah got close enough to see your face was tear stained and dropped his bag to rush the rest of the way to you. He wrapped you up in the safest feeling bear-hug, whispering tight against your cheek:
"Shhhh. Everything is ok."

You still couldn't get the words out and to be honest you didn't want to yell him because it would bring more questions than answers.

We do something we might regret but how far do we let it go?
