75: Party Crashers

Back in the party you were laughing and having the time of your life with Bryce and Emma. You were dying to know what was happening outside with Jaden and Chase but you didn't want to ruin anything if they were finally talking. Part of you was jealous at the thought of them together but mostly you were just hoping it would lead to you all being friends.

Bryce and Emma really fit well together and it was doing a good job of distracting you. Noah had even joined the conversation and to your surprise it was going smoothly. The sweet Noah you’d known before the other day’s outburst seemed to be back. 

Suddenly, you felt your chest tighten as you watched Tayler and his family walk in. You knew your parents and his parents were friends so there was a chance he would be there but you hadn't completely prepared yourself. You searched the room for your Mom but stopped in your tracks when you saw Tayler hold the door open and Olivia walk through.

Your mom must have had the same thought because she found you in the crowd before the Holders had even taken off their coats:
“I am so sorry. I invited the Holders before I knew what he’d done to you.”

You weren't particularly convinced yourself but reassured your mom:
“I- It’s okay. It’s gonna be fine. I can do this.”

You plastered a fake smile across your face as your mom innocently asked:
“Who is the girl with them?”

Emma piped up and answered:
“That would be Olivia.”

Bryce added, completely flabbergasted:
“He brought the girl he cheated on you with to your party? Wow that’s cold.”

Mom: “He did not! I’ll handle this.”

You: “Mom, no… I’ll be okay, I promise.”

Bryce: "And you live with these girls?"

Emma: "For now. I'm just looking for some place new."

Noah: "I'm looking for a new roommate too... maybe we can go in on a place together?"

Noah looked to Bryce who had a skeptical look on his face and quickly added:
"A two bedroom of course. It'd just be a roommate thing."

Your mom being the only one who knew all the details of Noah's outburst, answered first:
"I don't think that's going to happen. She can stay here first."

Emma just smiled, awkwardly not sure how to respond without offending Noah or stepping on Bryce's toes. She just nodded along with your mom.

Mom: “Just stick with your real friends and pretend Tayler's not here. Except for you Noah. You’d do best to remember that I can tell her father what I walked in on the other day at any time and just keep a safe distance from my daughter. I'll go try to run interference.”

You watched Tayler and Olivia giggling together and couldn’t help but turn your nose up to the sight. 

You also saw Jaden sneak back inside but no Chase. Your first thought was they must have fought but the smile smeared across Jaden's face didn't look like someone who'd just been rejected so who knew.
